2000 PORSCHE 911 (996) TURBO

This Porsche 911 (996) Turbo is a striking example of the all-season supercar, finished in a very popular factory colour scheme and boasting numerous desirable options. Under the engine lid is the legendary 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six producing 414bhp, with four-wheel drive via the desirable six-speed manual transmission.

The odometer shows just 31,191 miles from new. Originally supplied in August 2000 by the official Porsche distributor in Nicosia Cyprus, this factory right-hand-drive car was subsequently exported to Ireland soon afterwards.

The car’s early service stamps are all from Ireland, with the majority carried out by Porsche Centre Dublin through to 2012. In 2014 it was exported to the UK where it was re-registered in November of that year. There are two previous keepers on the log book, and it is now offered for sale by the trade.

Boasting a high build specification, this 996 Turbo left the factory finished in metallic Lapis Blue with a full Savannah leather interior. Option code 762 shows that it was ordered as a launch specification car, which is further enhanced by the extended leather trim and rare Nokia Digital Sound Processing (DSP) audio system.

Its bodywork and paint are described as being in exceptional condition for their age, no doubt helped by the low mileage covered by this car. An invoice in the file from November 2018 shows that it was treated to a repaint of the front bumper, most likely to rectify stone chips, as well as minor dent removal on the front wings, nearside rear wing, and the nearside door. It was then treated to an extensive three-day detailing session, together with having all four alloys and the brake callipers professionally refurbished. The invoice for this work alone alone totals over £3,500.

Stepping inside, the full Savannah leather gives this 996 Turbo a more luxurious ambience than many other examples, with the draped leather and heated seats providing the sort of comfort you would want in a refined and powerful grand tourer. There are very few minor marks on the trims in places and this car certainly presents as you would hope a low mileage cherished 911 would. Further factory-fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a sunroof, and electrically adjustable lumbar support. The aforementioned Nokia DSP system sits below the CR-22 head unit, while a Becker six-disc CD changer is mounted in the front boot.

The most recent scheduled maintenance was carried out in December 2019 at 31,056 miles by Universal Classic Cars (UCC) in Surrey. This was a major service that included renewal of the front lower arms, rear lower arm bush, front brake pads and brake fluid in addition to a four-wheel alignment session.

Prior to this, the car was looked after by Porsche specialist No.5 Garage in London, which serviced the car in January 2018 at 30,561 miles, July 2017 at 28,768 miles, and January 2016 at 27,160 miles. The latter included renewal of both front air-conditioning condensers, the receiver drier, and the heat shield mounting bolts.

The most recent MOT test was on 8 June 2020 at 31,078 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. Since being imported to the UK with around 25,000 miles on the odometer in 2014, it has never failed an annual MOT test, and has only ever had one advisory for a slightly worn tyre in 2016 - which is testament to its impressive condition.

Accompanying this 996 Turbo is the complete and original book pack, including the stamped guarantee and maintenance record. A Porsche Club GB binder is also present, as well as the current registration documents. The factory-supplied jack, tool roll, and space-saver spare wheel are all still present.

This Porsche 996 Turbo is an involving and exciting year-round supercar, presented in excellent condition and with very low mileage. Its factory specification arguably makes this 911 stand out from the crowd, while its maintenance history is sure to impress collectors seeking a well-cared-for example. One of the consummate modern classic GT supercars, this 911 would also make a perfect weekend car for country drives and motoring events.
