2000 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VI RS

KEY FACTS

• A thrilling rally-inspired sports saloon in desirable stripped-back RS specification and with low mileage.
• Under the bonnet is the turbocharged 2.0-litre ‘4G63’ inline-four, producing around 276bhp and 275lb-ft of torque, coupled with a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission.
• Thought to be one of only 863 examples produced, it was sourced from Japan and imported as a Grade 3.5 / B vehicle, before undergoing a comprehensive specialist rebuild at Arnside Motorsport in Carnforth. 

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• The VI model introduced improved cooling and durability, due to the fitment of a larger intercooler, a larger oil cooler, revised pistons and smaller fog lamps for better airflow.
• The RS model features a limited-slip differential rather than the AYC system, a titanium-aluminide turbine wheel, RS gear ratio set with the lower 4.8 RS final drive option (confirmed when the gearbox was stripped down to be vapour blasted), and a stripped-out interior with no electric windows or airbags.
• This example features the optional factory air-conditioning system, as well as 17-inch OZ Racing wheels and Brembo brakes.
• Accompanying the vehicle are its Japanese auction and inspection documents, along with a spare wheel, jack, wheel brace and emergency flare.
• It remains a totally standard vehicle with no aftermarket upgrades fitted.

CONDITION

• No known bodywork damage.
• Its resprayed Scotia White paintwork is in excellent condition, with no significant blemishes.
• The blue and grey cloth upholstery is all in good shape, presenting with some light wear to the front bolsters. The vendor reports that the tops of the rear seats are slightly faded.
• No electrical faults have been detected.
• The most recent MOT test was on 23 June 2020 at 56,413 km, which was a pass with two advisories to monitor worn nearside front and nearside rear brake discs, which have since been replaced with new items.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The car has undergone a bare-shell nut and bolt rebuild, performed by specialist technicians at AMS Arnside Motorsport in Carnforth.
• Some very minor surface rust on the underside was treated with corrosion prevention paint.
• The body panels were stripped and the car was resprayed in its original Scotia White colour scheme, while new OEM decals have been fitted or re-produced if no longer available.
• All mechanical components were stripped down to allow the media blasting process, and either re-painted or re-powder coated to factory colour specifications, with any worn parts renewed as necessary
• Alloy components were vapour blasted, rather than resprayed.
• Its last scheduled maintenance was undertaken in March 2021, where technicians at AMS Arnside Motorsport changed the fluids, filters, spark plugs and cambelt. 

SUMMARY

This Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RS is a rare and exciting performance saloon, which has undergone a comprehensive rebuild and now presents in superb overall condition. A sought-after example of the breed that remains unmodified, it would make an entertaining B-road toy, and a great example to display at car shows.
