KEY FACTS

• A very smart example of the flagship V12-powered cruiser, benefitting from recent maintenance and supplied with an elegant panoramic glass hardtop.
• Under the bonnet is the wonderfully smooth 6.0-litre ‘M120’ V12, which produces 389bhp and drives the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission.
• First registered in March 2000, the car was purchased by the current owner from the nephew of the previous owner, who kept the car for 12 years.
• Among the last of its kind, it is reported that just 286 examples of the SL600 were built in the 2000 model year.

• This example is also supplied with its panoramic glass hardtop, which was a costly option in period, and greatly enhances the car’s refinement and year-round usability.
• It rides on the correct set of 18-inch Monoblock-style alloy wheels, which are in great shape.
• Entertainment is provided via a modern Sony radio/CD player with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
• The car will be accompanied by all of its original handbooks, its stamped service book and a number of invoices detailing its past maintenance.

CONDITION

• No known bodywork damage.
• Thought to have been at least partly resprayed in the past, the paintwork is in very good overall condition, with a few minor chips around the car and a small scratch towards the front of the bonnet.
• The exterior trim also presents well, though there is a crack in the driver’s side tail light lens and a small chip on the passenger-side of the windscreen.
• Inside, the cabin is in good order given the car’s mileage, with some marks and wear on the front seat bolsters, a small graze on the base of the driver’s seat and further wear on the steering wheel’s hand grips and the driver’s door pull.
• The optional wind deflector is present, though there is a small tear in the mesh fabric.
• Its electrically deployable convertible hood works as it should, and is free of any holes, tears or other damage.
• While the central, third brake light is not currently working, there are no other known electrical faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This SL600’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in November 2020 by Dorset Autospares, who carried out an engine oil change, and replacement of the oil and air filters.
• Prior to this, the brake pipes and suspension valves were replaced in July 2019 by German Autocare, who also fitted a new alternator, along with new power steering and alternator pulleys in January 2019.
• The seller also notes that the front suspension was overhauled in April 2021, when the radiator was also replaced.
