2000 MERCEDES-BENZ E55 AMG

This Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG is a superb example of the modern classic ‘super saloon’, offered in a classic colourway and with relatively low mileage. Up front is a 5.4-litre, naturally aspirated V8, producing approximately 349bhp and 391lb/ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic gearbox. The odometer reads 78,481 km (48,765 miles).

Delivered new to Hong Kong, and remaining in that market ever since, this example was first registered on 9 June 2000. It has been in the hands of the current vendor for the past five years and remains in original condition throughout.

Finished in Brilliant Silver metallic, the understated lines of this W210-generation E55 have aged well, with the finish believed to be original to the car. Some stone chips are visible to the imposing front end, while the vendor notes some scratches are visible on the plastic door trims and chrome surrounds. Both front wings are showing minor signs of corrosion common to Mercedes of this era. This car still wears its 18-inch AMG Monoblock alloy wheels, which show some signs of lacquer damage and could benefit from refurbishment to make them perfect.

The interior of this executive express remains in superb order. Only modest creasing is visible to both the front and rear seats, with the driver’s seat showing some more noticeable worn. Slight signs of discolouration are also visible to the leather, but the dashboard remains in good condition. This example features desirable extras including a sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, parking sensors, and electric folding mirrors. An aftermarket Pioneer Bluetooth stereo has been fitted to provide improved sound quality. The vendor states that all accessories are in full working order, and that there are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard.

The most recent service was carried out on 23 September 2019 at 78,200 km (48,591 miles) by SPS Hong Kong. This entailed replacement of the engine oil as well as the brake fluid, and the car is reported to be running and driving very well.

The most recent technical inspection was carried out in August 2020, with no advisories noted as a result of this. Shod in matching Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres all round, these have ample tread remaining and are date-coded to 2014.
