2000 MASERATI 3200 GT - MANUAL

This Maserati 3200 GT is an excellent example of the handsome millennium-era sporting coupe, with a timeless colour scheme and low mileage. It is powered by the 365bhp 3.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, driving the rear wheels through the sought-after six-speed manual transmission.

This 2000 model year car is recorded as having been delivered to its first owner on 15 November 1999, though it appears to have not been registered until 1 March 2000 - which is assumed to have been because the owner wanted to wait to get the latest ‘W’ registration on the first possible day. There are five previous keepers on the log book, and the current owner acquired the car in March 2020. The odometer shows just 28,611 miles.

Its bodywork is described as being in excellent condition, with no evidence of any previous accident damage. The silver paint is also in very good order, with only minor stone chips commensurate with the age and road use. There also appears to be a very small bubble just below the offside tail light. It rides on the original 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, which look pristine, though the vendor reports that some of the wheel bolts are rusty.

Stepping inside, the black leather has some signs of use, and minor scuffing to the outer bolster on the driver’s side, but overall the cabin presents very well for a car that is now more than 20 years old. There is some slight wear to the carpet on the transmission tunnel near the rear seats, but the rest of the floor covering is in very good order, as is the headlining. The switchgear has some of the common degradation of the coating that is seen on virtually all Ferraris and Maseratis of this era, but there are now numerous specialists who can refurbish these. The only fault noted by the vendor is that the air-conditioning condenser has failed. Otherwise, there are no known electrical issues, and no dashboard warning lights on.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in February 2019 at marque specialist The Maserati Shed in Hampshire, which consisted of an engine oil and filter service, replacement of the cambelt, and fitment of a new electronic throttle body gasket. Despite the low mileage, it has been serviced regularly, as the full summary below shows.

The most recent MOT test was on 29 September 2020 at 28,589 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever - the same result as the three annual MOT tests before that as well. It is shod in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, which the vendor reports have ample tread, but which are each more than 10 years old - so may benefit from replacement on the basis of age.

This Maserati 3200 GT is a great value high-performance Italian coupe, with a good deal of style as well as a characterful twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The vendor states that it drives very well, pulling hard through the gears, and that it has been well-maintained throughout its life. With the involving and rare manual gearbox, this 3200 GT is undoubtedly a fitting addition to any collection of modern classics, not to mention being a rewarding driver’s car.
