2000 MASERATI 3200 GT - MANUAL

This is a stunning example of the desirable Maserati 3200 GT. Widely regarded as one of the marque’s prettiest modern GT cars, it features the eye-catching but short-lived ‘boomerang’ tail lights. Under the bonnet is a 365bhp 3.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, coupled to the rare and sought after six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 64,161 miles.

First registered in July 2000, this car was acquired by its current custodian in December 2016. The eye-catching Blu Francia paintwork is generally in very good condition, with few immediately obvious blemishes. The seller notes the existence of a handful of superficial scratches, including one on the boot lid. The original wheels present very well indeed, with only a few minor kerb grazes.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in a two-tone combination of Avorio leather for the seats, lower dashboard and door cards, and with Blu Scuro for the centre console insert, dashboard top and roof pillars. The seats are in good condition, with no apparent tears, but there are some surface cracks in the leather; and they would benefit from a thorough clean and perhaps some professional re-connolising. The gear knob has some nicks in the finish, but in general the interior is very original and in good working order, with no electrical faults or dashboard warning lights.

The owner states that this car has been fastidiously maintained throughout its life, and the last service was carried out by D&A Dennis Automotive Engineers in August 2020 at 64,144 miles. It received an oil service and eight new spark plugs, as well as a rear brake and handbrake service.

That followed work in September 2019, when the car received a pre-MOT inspection and had the fuel system cleaned, and September 2018 at 63,672 miles, when the car received a new lambda sensor and new timing belt kit, as well as an oil and brake service and a fuel system flush. In March 2016 at 62,291 miles, significant jobs were carried out, including renewal of the throttle body, potentiometer, clutch and the ABS module – and the car has covered less than 2,000 miles since then.

The most recent MOT test was on 19 August 2020 at 64,151 miles, which resulted in a clean pass. The car failed a previous test the day before due to a faulty spark plug in cylinder 1 and a faulty parking brake – both of which were immediately rectified; the former with a fresh set of eight plugs. The tyres are in good condition with around 4mm of tread on each corner.

This 3200 GT comes with a stamped service book, the original owner’s manual and the sales book, all kept in a pouch. There is also some service history paperwork. The vendor states that two sets of keys and a red ‘master’ key are present, but that the tools and space saver spare wheel are missing.

Offered in excellent overall condition and in a head-turning factory colour, this Maserati 3200 GT must be the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants a great value Italian sports coupe with bags of panache. A 2+2 grand tourer, this is a genuinely practical car for exciting road trips, but its next owner will no doubt get just as much pleasure from savouring it on their favourite roads on dry weekends.
