2000 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 DOUBLE CAB TD5

This hard-working and heavily modified Land Rover Defender 110 Double Cab is an off-road enthusiast’s dream. A series of upgrades have been fitted to maximise the already legendary off-road capability of the Defender, as well as the performance of its 2.5-litre diesel engine, which feeds power to the wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer shows 114,000 miles.

This head-turning Land Rover was first registered on June 29, 2000, and it has passed through the hands of several owners since then. The current custodian has kept the vehicle for around a year.

As a 20-year-old car with a history of off-road use, this Defender’s bodywork does bear a few scars. Chips and scratches can be found all around the vehicle, along with a few small rust bubbles, but the seller says there are no dents. The vehicle is decked out with a range of modifications, including wider arches, LED rear spot lights and a 52-inch LED light bar on the roof. A roof rack and a custom Puma bonnet have also been attached, along with a rubber A-bar, KBX grilles and light surrounds. The yellow paintwork is not original, but it makes for an eye-catching colour scheme when paired with the black modifications. The 17-inch wheels’ condition seem to match the bodywork, appearing to be solid despite some superficial imperfections.

Like the bodywork, the cabin has been heavily modified for off-road use. Black leather sports seats sit alongside an almost completely reworked dashboard complete with extra buttons for the ancillaries and a new infotainment system. These are all housed behind a utilitarian metal fascia. The cabin has also been upgraded with a rear storage vault and a Momo Dark Fighter steering wheel. The seller advises that all switchgear is fully functional and there are no warning lights on the dashboard.

This car’s most recent service was carried out on September 1, 2020, with the car receiving fresh engine oil and a general check over. This followed a number of previous services carried out by a former owner, who was also a mechanic. Aside from servicing, the car has received a number of upgrades during its life, with a stage-one remap for the TD5 diesel engine and 37-inch tyres among the most notable. The car has also been bestowed with a Griffin exhaust and AirSport intercooler, as well as a two-inch lift. On the underside, there are guards on the differentials and steering, while a snorkel runs up the driver’s side of the windscreen.

The most recent MOT was on November 7, 2019, at 112,884 miles, which resulted in a clean pass. The car had previously failed on November 4, 2019, but the faults, which included brake issues, an ESC fault and problems with the doors, were rectified. The car is currently fitted with 37-inch tyres in good condition, while there is a new spare wheel.

Included with the vehicle are a range of MOT certificates and a folder full of invoices for work carried out. The car also comes with the original logbook.

This Defender is an all-terrain weapon, offering you the ability to get pretty much anywhere. It isn’t going to fit in at your local concours, but it’s still a head-turner thanks to its sheer size and presence, as well as the bright paintwork. The car is simply crying out to be used as the modifier intended, offering you hours of challenging, gruelling entertainment on any terrain.
