1999 ROVER MINI COOPER LE

This 1999 Rover Mini Cooper LE is in excellent condition, boasting low mileage and a desirable factory specification. Under the bonnet sits the 62bhp 1.3-litre inline-four, coupled with a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates just 33,235 miles.

This LE model is one of 301 cars produced to commemorate both 40 years of Mini and the 40th anniversary of the 1959 Brabham/Cooper Formula One World Championship win. It is finished in Brooklands Green; one of two colour choices available for the LE. First registered in October 1999, it has now been with its current keeper for three years.

The bodywork is in good shape, while the resprayed Brooklands Green paintwork presents with very few minor imperfections. Some minor body repairs were undertaken in 2009, which were done to a very good standard. The white roof, wing mirrors and bonnet stripes are in excellent condition, as are the grille-mounted spotlights and John Cooper signature badging. Its 13-inch wheels are all in good order, with bold Mini Cooper centre caps.

Inside, the Grenadine Red leather remains entirely original and is described as being in excellent condition, presenting with just some age-related creasing. The colour scheme continues through the door cards and along the dashboard top, while the dashboard itself features exposed metal and chrome trim pieces, which are free of any visible scuffs. The original stereo remains in the car and no electrical faults have been detected.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken at 32,700 miles, where technicians changed the engine oil and filters. At around 32,000 miles, a new cat-back exhaust was fitted, while another oil and filter change took place at 31,500 miles. Prior to this, at 30,000 miles, the underside, floors and sills were waxed. The subframe has been cavity waxed, along with the sills and boot floor. All joints, bearings, bushes and mountings were also checked, and changed or upgraded where necessary.

The most recent MOT test was on 18 June 2020 at 32,713 miles, which resulted in a pass with one advisory to monitor some slight play in the offside front track rod end. The wheels are wrapped with Dunlop SP Sport tyres, which are reported to have 5mm of tread remaining all round.

Accompanying the vehicle is the original stamped service book with a partial Rover main dealer service history, along with a raft of maintenance invoices. Two keys and an immobiliser fob will also be supplied.

This Rover Mini Cooper LE is a rare limited-edition British classic, which presents in very good throughout – with low mileage, and retaining its LE-specific factory features.
