1999 PORSCHE 911 (996) CARRERA 4

This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is a sound and usable example of an exciting and engaging sports car, presented in impressive condition. It is powered by a 3.4-litre flat-six engine producing 300hp, with all-wheel drive via a slick six-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates 111,299 miles, and the car boasts superb service history from new.

An original right-hand-drive UK market car, this 996 was supplied new through Stratstone of Wilmslow and was first registered on 1 September 1999. It was specified with the tilt-and-slide sunroof, full grey leather interior, rear wiper, and was finished in Arctic Silver metallic.

The bodywork of this 911 remains in very good condition, with few blemishes around the car. There is a small vertical scuff in the paint on the rear bumper, just above the number plate, which looks like a good candidate for a smart repair. There is also a minor blemish around the offside rear wheel arch, as well as a small 5mm bubble in the paint next to it. The front bumper has been repainted in the past to rectify stone chips.

The light lenses are all in good order with no cracks or chips, and the rubber window seals and plastic door mirror mounts are sound. It rides on a set of 18-inch GT3 Sport Design split-rim alloys, which have a few kerb marks on both rear wheels, but in general present smartly.

In the cabin, the front seats have electric adjustment, and are upholstered in full grey ruffled leather. The trim is in good condition, with wear that is entirely in line with the age and mileage. There is only some light surface cracking on the driver’s seat side bolster. Both rear seats are in particularly impressive condition, and show few signs of use.

A few scuffs can be seen under the lower part of the dashboard in the photos, but the rest of the interior is in great shape. The electric sunroof tilts up, slides back, and closes again as it should. There are no known electrical faults, and all of the switchgear functions correctly. Cabin equipment includes automatic air-conditioning, as well as an aftermarket Sony CD player and radio with Bluetooth connectivity.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in May 2019 at 109,675 miles, at independent specialist Brookspeed in Hampshire. This comprised of a minor service, along with renewal of the brake fluid. Prior to this, it had a major service in December 2017 at 107,418 miles, and a minor service in May 2016 at 98,780 miles. The metal brake pipes and the oil cooler have also been replaced within the last year, and it benefits from a full tracking set-up by Porsche specialist Center Gravity in the West Midlands.

Its most recent MOT test was on 10 February 2020 at 111,268 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The alloy wheels were fitted with four Avon tyres in May 2019, which have covered only around 2,000 miles. They remain in good condition with plenty of tread, though there is a small cut visible in the offside rear tyre sidewall.

Accompanying the car is a complete Porsche book pack, including the driver’s manual, guarantee and maintenance record, and service directory, housed in the black leather wallet. Stored safely in the boot is the space-saver spare wheel, as well as the original tool kit.

This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is a clean car inside and out, and benefits from a tasteful factory specification. With all-wheel drive, this is a 996 that can easily be enjoyed all year round, and the seller says that this particular example drives like a low-mileage car, no doubt thanks to its regular servicing. It is a usable modern classic that needs nothing to be put into regular use straight away. Viewing by appointment is welcomed by the seller.
