1999 PANOZ AIV ROADSTER 10TH ANNIVERSARY

KEY FACTS

• An exceptionally rare sports car: one of 10 Panoz AIV Roadster 10th Anniversary Editions produced, with a highly desirable factory specification.
• This is one of just three AIV cars that were factory built with a Kenny Bell supercharged version of the 4.6-litre V8 from the Mustang SVT Cobra, driving the rear wheels though a five-speed Borg Warner T45 manual gearbox.
• The current owner spent eight years tracking down one of the three supercharged cars, and it has been regularly serviced, also benefiting from covered indoor storage.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• The AIV name stands for ‘Aluminium Intensive Vehicle’, referencing the fact that this special sports car is made from 70% aluminium, including an aluminium chassis and frame with a central backbone, bringing in the total weight to 2500lb.
• This car is one of the final 10 built for the 1999 model year, and is one of only three with the supercharged engine. Furthermore, these final 10 cars all came with Penske adjustable shock absorbers with independent suspension all around.
• It rides on BBS chromed wheels, with the center caps engraved with ‘Anniversary Limited Edition 1 of 10’. Other exterior features include a soft-top roof and zip-in windows.
• The engine valve covers feature the signature of Dan Panoz, and there is an engraved signature plate on the firewall, featuring all the technicians that worked on the car.
• Inside, it has a blue leather interior with sport seats, with the blue leather also extending to the dashboard, center console and door cards. The center console itself is also adorned with carbon-fibre trim inlays. Factory equipment includes air conditioning and an Alpine stereo, D style steering wheel, and there is an aftermarket 12-disc CD changer installed.
• The owner’s manual and various pieces of original literature will be included, along with a trickle charger.

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage.
• Its Titanium Grey paintwork is in generally excellent condition, as shown in the gallery below.
• Inside, the owner reports that the driver’s seat cushion is beginning to peel, and the leather also has some light creasing; however, overall the cabin still looks very smart for its age.
• No electrical issues have been detected.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Its most recent service was performed at 7,790 miles, where the owner changed the engine oil and supercharger oil, before installing a K&N air filter and checking the brakes, belts, fluid levels, transmission and differential.
• Previous services have reportedly been performed on an annual basis while in the owner’s care.
• All four Penske shock absorbers have been fully rebuilt with replacement seals and re-gassed.

SUMMARY

As one of just three Panoz AIV Roadster 10th Anniversary Edition cars that were equipped with the factory supercharger, this rare sports car is a collectible and thrilling modern classic. It has been driven sparingly over the years, presenting in impressive condition and with very low mileage.
