KEY FACTS

• As a 1999 model year example, this facelifted SL320 features Nappa leather upholstery, a redesigned steering wheel, body-coloured door handles and 17-inch alloy wheels.
• This car is finished in the uncommon hue of Green Black metallic with a Saffron leather interior, accented by dark walnut burl inlays with the optional wood trim on the steering wheel and gear shifter.
• Factory-fitted equipment includes heated and electrically adjustable front seats with memory function and the optional rear seats, making this a usable 2+2.
• The car will be accompanied by its original handbooks and manuals, as well as extensive documentation of its service history, its wind deflector and two keys.
• Believed to have three owners in total, including two prior in Guernsey.

CONDITION

• No bodywork damage.
• Believed to be fully original, the paintwork is in very good condition, with only a few age-related blemishes, including small marks next to the fuel filler flap and beside the bootlid.
• While they are in good shape overall, the alloys would benefit from refurbishment in due course as their lacquer coating is lifting – particularly on the nearside front wheel.
• The black convertible hood is in good order, though it has faded slightly and the stitching holding the rear plastic window in place has come away on the left side.
• Inside, the cabin is very smart indeed, in line with the car’s mileage. There is some wear to the driver’s outer bolster, but this does not detract from the impressive overall condition of the interior.
• While the seller notes that the electric aerial does not fully extend, there are no other known electrical or mechanical faults.
• The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 26 May 2021 at 14,274 miles, which it passed with advisories for slight play in both front wheel bearings. It initially failed a test one week earlier, but this was rectified with fitment of additional wheel bolts as well as new front lower suspension arms, at a total cost of £571.64.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This SL320’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in September 2020 at 13,780 miles by Vehicle Solutions Aftersales, Aberdeen. A full service, this included an oil and filter change, as well as replacement of the brake pads and battery.
• Prior to this, Jacksons of Guernsey performed a full service in August 2017, and JA Biggs Engineering serviced the car in September 2016.

This Mercedes-Benz SL320 is a wonderful example of the refined R129-generation convertible – and is certainly among the lowest mileage cars in UK. Featuring an appealing Green Black Metallic finish and with a remarkably well-preserved interior, this car will make a fine companion for weekend road trips and warm-weather cruises alike.
