1999 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE

This fourth-generation Maserati Quattroporte is a distinctive Italian luxury car, presented in a timeless factory colour scheme and with low mileage from new. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre V6, which produces 287bhp at 6,500rpm, and drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission – resulting in a sub-six second sprint from 0-60mph. The odometer displays just 52,848 km from new.

First revealed at the Turin Motor Show in April 1994, the wedge-shaped Maserati Quattroporte IV was based on the preceding Biturbo, but was set apart by its lower weight, Marcello Gandini-designed bodywork and range of powerful engines.

First registered in January 1999, this example was supplied new to its home market of Italy. The car was purchased by the vendor from a lawyer’s private collection five years ago, and has been frequently inspected and maintained to a high standard by his in-house team in Greece.

Today, this Quattroporte’s unique, angular bodywork is in great shape, with no evidence of any prior accident damage and only one noticeable dent on its driver’s-side quarter panel. The silver paintwork is also in excellent condition, and while there are some small stone chips on the front bumper and door mirrors, these are in line with the car’s road use. Furthermore, the exterior trim presents well and the light lenses are in good order, save for a small crack in the driver’s-side tail light. This elegant Italian saloon rides on its original set of 16-inch, eight-spoke alloy wheels, which would benefit from refurbishment in due course.

Stepping inside, the cabin is trimmed in its original black leather upholstery, which covers the seats, door cards and dashboard. There are some general creases and light wear on the seats from use, but no rips or tears or other notable damage. The glossy wood veneers which adorn the door cards, dashboard, centre console and touchpoints are in great shape; however there is a small crack in the lacquer on the steering wheel rim. This Quattroporte is fitted with a relatively modern JVC radio/CD player with USB connectivity, while factory-fitted equipment includes climate control and electrically adjustable front seats. All of the car’s buttons, switches and electrical items work as they should, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Its most recent routine maintenance was carried out in July 2020 by Maserati specialist Pachis Anastasios. A major service; this included replacement of all of the car’s belts and tensioners, as well as its spark plugs, gaskets, filters and engine oil. Prior to this, the car was also recently serviced in 2016.

This Quattroporte’s last roadworthiness test was conducted in 2020, with no faults being found. The front wheels are fitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres, and Michelin Primacy items are fitted at the rear. All four are approximately six years old and have ample tread remaining. The car will be accompanied by its spare wheel and factory jack.

This Maserati Quattroporte IV is a striking and highly capable Gandini-designed luxury sports saloon, which is offered for sale in very smart overall condition and with low mileage from new. A far rarer sight than its German contemporaries; it would make a unique and stylish daily driver, not to mention a fine addition to any eclectic gathering of modern classics.
