1999 JAGUAR XKR CONVERTIBLE - 9,102 MILES

This Jaguar XKR Convertible is a refined and powerful open-top cruiser, which is presented in remarkably original condition and with exceptionally low mileage. On lifting the bonnet, you are met by the 370bhp supercharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, which drives the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. The odometer indicates that this handsome Jaguar has covered a mere 9,102 miles from new.

This original right-hand drive X100-generation XKR was first registered on 16 April 1999, and has been doted on by its current owner since they acquired it 14 years ago.

As a result, its elegant, flowing bodywork remains in outstanding condition, and is free of any accident damage or dents. The bright Phoenix Red paintwork is also in splendid shape – with all panels being the original factory finish – and is almost entirely unmarked, save for one very small stone chip on the nose.

The electrically operated black fabric hood appears to be as-new, with no rips, tears or significant fading, and fits snugly over its frame. The car rides on its original 18-inch ‘Double Five’ alloy wheels, which are free of any noticeable marks or blemishes.

In the cabin, Warm Charcoal leather covers the seats, door cards, centre console and the steering wheel’s centre and hand grips, and is in impeccable condition. In fact, the only indication that this XKR has seen much use is some light creasing to the seats’ upholstery.

Elsewhere, dark wood veneers cover the dashboard, and the steering wheel’s upper and lower portions and the automatic gear selector knob are hewn from the same timber and remain in excellent order. The car’s original, Jaguar-branded radio cassette player is also still fitted, and is as-new.

Factory fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, cruise control and electrically-adjustable door mirrors. All of the interior buttons, switches and electrical items work as they should, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Offered in fine mechanical order, this XKR’s last routine maintenance was a major service, which was carried out in June 2019 at 9,065 miles by main dealer Hatfield Jaguar. This included replacement of the spark plugs and brake fluid, and the car was given a clean bill of health during its inspection. Prior to this, oil services were carried out in March 2011 at 8,720 miles and October 2009 at 8,500 miles, again at Hatfield Jaguar. There are a total of 5 jaguar main dealer stamps in the book.

Its last MOT test was conducted on 1 February 2021 at 9,104 miles, which resulted in a clean first-time pass. Indeed, the seller advises that the car has never had so much as one MOT advisory throughout its life. Given the car’s originality, it should perhaps come as little surprise that its wheels are still shod in the Pirelli P Zero items that were fitted at the factory. All four have 4-5mm of tread remaining. While they are ideal for someone seeking a time-warp car, they would of course benefit from replacement before any enthusiastic road use.

This Jaguar XKR Convertible is a fantastically original example of the stylish 2+2 sports car, which is equipped with a potent supercharged V8 and is presented in outstanding condition. Having covered just 9,102 miles from new, and untouched to the extent that it still wears its factory-fitted tyres, it is a prime example of the breed, and will take pride of place in any collector’s fleet.
