1999 HONDA S2000

This Honda S2000 is an original and unmodified example of the marque’s high-revving millennium-era sports car, in very good order and sound mechanical condition. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre inline-four, producing up to 237bhp with a 9,000rpm red line, and coupled to a wonderfully slick six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 61,558 miles.

First registered in September 1999, this UK-market car has three previous keepers on the log book. The current owner acquired the car in May 2013, and has been told that this was among the first batch of 250 cars to arrive in the country.

The bodywork looks straight and smooth, and the vendor reports no known previous damage. Its silver paint finish has stone chips around the front bumper and bonnet, and some less obvious marks on the rear bumper. There is also a small dent in the driver’s door next to the handle, and some smaller chips around the lower edges of the wheel arches. In general though, this S2000 still presents well for its age and mileage. It rides on 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, which have a few nicks and scuffs in the finish, but which are generally in good order.

Inside, the black leather upholstery is very presentable, with only minor scuffing to the outer seat bolsters, and some marks on the back of the headrests. There are scuffs on the plastic sill cover kick plates, but overall the interior trim looks smart. With the exception of a speaker conversion behind the headrests, the cabin is original - even down to the Honda radio cassette deck. Its black soft top roof opens and closes as it should, with no rips or other damage to the material. There are no known faults with any of the electrics, and no warning lights.

Its last scheduled maintenance was in August 2018 at 59,229 miles at Cooper & Chinn in Kidderminster, when it received a full service and a new battery. The two most recent services before this were in October 2015 at 56,084 miles, and November 2010 at 55,677 miles. During his ownership, the vendor has also had all of the brake discs and pads renewed - just 500 miles ago - as well as new front suspension arms and front brake callipers less than 1,000 miles ago. It has recently had a full four-wheel geometry setup and alignment session, with only 300 miles covered since then.

The most recent MOT test was on 7 November 2019 at 60,609 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. It is fitted with Bridgestone Potenza tyres at the front and Uniroyal Rainsport items at the rear - the latter were fitted around one year ago. The vendor will hand the car over with a fresh 12-month MOT certificate for the next owner.

Accompanying the car is the original document wallet, S2000 owner’s manual, the stamped service booklet, dealer list and security guides, as well as numerous receipts and invoices. There are also two original keys with remote fobs.

This Honda S2000 is a superb modern roadster, with a stellar engine and gearbox combination, which delivers a unique analogue driving experience. While the next owner may wish to refresh to paintwork in places to bring it up to a very high standard, this car is presented in good order throughout and is ready to enjoy on your favourite roads
