1999 FERRARI 550 MARANELLO

This 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello is a magnificent grand tourer, presented in one of the most desirable colour schemes and with very low mileage from new. Blu Tour de France paintwork contrasts with a bright Crema hide interior, while the 5.5-litre V12 and six-speed manual gearbox have propelled the 550 just 38,162km (23,712 miles) from new.

Delivered new to France in May 1999, this Ferrari has just one previous owner, with the vendor having acquired it seven years ago. Since then, he has thoroughly enjoyed circa 10,000km of driving. The car is currently in the UK, but still wears French registration plates and is taxed in that locality.

The gleaming Blu Tour de France exterior is described as being in very good condition with only minor imperfections, with no evidence of any non-original paint. As it has been used and enjoyed, there are some stone chips present at the front, and hairline cracks in the front valance. All of the bodywork trim and seals are said to be in good order, though there are small sections where the original finish has flaked away. The car sits on factory-fitted five-spoke alloy wheels, which are virtually pristine, with just a few small kerb marks visible in the photographs.

Inside, the Crema leather trim is complemented by dark blue carpeting throughout. The parcel shelf is finished in the desirable quilted-stitch option, and the custom Ferrari suitcase pictured in the gallery accompanies the car. While some minor wear is evident on the seat bolsters and on the metal gear knob, the interior presents very well indeed. The car also retains its original Ferrari-branded Sony XR-F20 radio and cassette deck.

Throughout its life, this Ferrari has been treated to no-expense-spared servicing and upkeep. In the vendor's own words: “any maintenance that was ever required has been carried out”. Its camshaft timing belt was replaced in February 2017, while the last service was carried out by H.R. Owen in April 2019. During this latest work, mechanics believed that the steering rack had started to show signs of a leak, though on a visit to an independent specialist after this, no problem was spotted. All four tyres were renewed in 2016 and have covered only 4,000km since then.

Accompanying this Ferrari is the original leather wallet from the factory, containing all original books and literature. Two keys and three key fobs are also present. There are few Ferraris that make long-distance travel quite as enjoyable as a 550 Maranello, and this particular car is a fantastic low-mileage example that is ready to transport its next owner across the continent with comfort and class.
