1999 FERRARI 355 F1 GTS

KEY FACTS

  • An iconic modern classic supercar, finished in a particularly appealing factory colour combination and presented in smart overall condition.
  • Under the rear decklid is the 375bhp 3.5-litre V8, which is coupled to a six-speed ‘F1’ automated transmission with paddle shift.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • Specified in the attractive hue of Blu Tour de France with a rich tan leather interior.
  • It rides on the correct set of 18-inch magnesium alloy wheels, which are in great shape.
  • The car is mechanically original and unmodified, and retains its original interior trim.
  • It features the optional carbon-fibre door sill tread plates.
  • Accompanying this 355 are its original handbooks and full tool kit, contained in the correct tan leather case.

CONDITION

  • The vendor is not aware of any prior bodywork damage or repairs.
  • Believed to have had some remedial paintwork in the past, the Blu Tour de France finish is described as being in good overall condition, with a few age-related marks around the car, including minor stone chips on the bonnet and touched-in chips on the rear edges of the doors.
  • Inside, the cabin is in fair condition, with wear to the driver’s bolster and handbrake grip, though this could be greatly improved via a re-connolising treatment. Furthermore, the leather on the passenger-side airbag cover has shrunk, so would benefit from re-stretching or renewing.
  • The surfaces of the switches have become somewhat ‘sticky’, which is a common issue in Ferraris of this vintage, but there are a number of specialists who can refinish them.
  • There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
  • The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 24 June 2020 at 32,067 miles, which resulted in a clean, first-time pass.
  • The car’s most recent routine maintenance consisted of an oil service and a general inspection, and was carried out in April 2021.

SUMMARY

Rightly recognised as one of the marque’s finest contemporary supercars, the Ferrari 355 F1 GTS offers impressive performance even by today’s standards, not to mention one of the Maranello marque’s most evocative soundtracks. A smart and highly original example, which would benefit from some minor ‘TLC’ to the interior, this handsomely specified example is ready to drive and enjoy straight away.
