1998 PORSCHE 911 (993) TARGA

KEY FACTS

  • A smart, manual example of the refined open-top modern classic, presented in highly original condition and benefitting from a recent service.
  • Under the engine lid is a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine, delivering 339bhp to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with limited-slip differential.
  • An original ‘C16-code’ UK-market example, this 911 was first registered in February 1998, and is believed to be one of only four right-hand drive Targas produced that year.
  • The car has been with its current owner for the past seven years, and is offered fresh from a recent MOT and service.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Riding on its original 17-inch split rim alloys, this 993-generation Targa is finished in the appealing hue of Zenith Blue metallic over a Marble Grey leathe-trimmed cabin.
  • Free from any modifications, the car’s factory specification includes a limited-slip differential, an automatic braking differential, a Porsche radio, a rear window wiper, a top-tinted windscreen, and a raised stop lamp.
  • The car is accompanied by its stamped service book, paperwork relating to previous services and MOT tests, and two keys.

CONDITION

  • There is no known bodywork damage.
  • The Zenith Blue metallic paintwork presents well overall, having been previously resprayed. There are some stone chips to the front bumper, bonnet and wing mirrors, a couple of small blemishes around the rear spoiler, and a few small imperfections on the wheel arches. The trim appears to be lifting in small areas around the front windscreen and windows, and sections of the trim show some deterioration.
  • Moving inside, the cabin is in good condition, with a few imperfections commensurate with the age and mileage of the vehicle. This includes some creasing and wear to the front seat bolsters and centres, a small area of lifted fabric on the driver’s door card, and some modest signs of use on the steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake lever and stereo controls.
  • There are no warning lights on the dashboard and no reported electrical or mechanical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test took place on 19 August 2021 at 153,256 miles, which the car passed following some attention to the emissions, and with an advisory stating the nearside front tyre was worn or close to the legal limit.
