This 1997 Mazda MX-5 is a solid, low-mileage example of the NA-generation roadster. It is powered by a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine coupled to an engaging five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer indicates just 41,184 miles.

First registered on 8 May 1997, this MX-5 has been in the care of the vendor for the last 15 years. During this time, the car has been well cared for, used sparingly, and kept wholly original with the exception of the aftermarket wheels which were on the vehicle at the time of purchase.

As expected from a 24-year-old car, the Solid White paintwork on this NA MX-5 is beginning to show signs of its age, with a number of minor scratches and the expected smattering of stone chips to the front end visible on the vehicle. That said, the paintwork is believed to be original, so this is commensurate with the age of the vehicle and presents very well overall. There is also a minor indentation on the offside front wing, though this is difficult to see unless up close. The aftermarket alloy wheels are in excellent condition, with only minor scuffing to the nearside front wheel.

The cockpit on this MX-5 is in very good condition for its age, with only minor wear to the bolsters and ‘bobbling’ beginning to show on the cloth seats. The carpets are in great shape, as is the centre console and folding roof, with no reported damage, leaks or repairs. The rear window on the roof is free from major discolouration, while the boot is in good condition with no major staining or wear to the carpets, and the spare wheel and tool kit are both present.

Throughout their ownership, the vendor has maintained this MX-5 to a good standard, and reports that the car runs beautifully. The most recent service took place at 40,788 miles in June 2020, and was carried out by The Car Works of Berkhamsted. This work comprised of a routine service with oil and filter change. Prior to this, the car also received routine servicing in September 2019 and August 2014. The cam belt was replaced in May 2006 at 31,285 miles, and throughout their ownership the vendor has always kept this MX-5 garaged.

The most recent MOT test took place on 14 September 2020, and resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. In fact, the online MOT history record for this MX-5 is remarkable for a Mk1 car, with no mention of any corrosion whatsoever in the last 15 years of tests covering some 10,000 miles.

All four wheels are fitted with Yokohama tyres, which are reported to be in good condition. Supplied with the vehicle is the original dealer book pack, warranty details and service history.
