1997 DUCATI 916 SENNA II

KEY FACTS

• A rare limited-edition superbike, presented in excellent condition and with low mileage from new.
• It is powered by a 916cc fuel-injected V-twin, which produces 114bhp and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
• In total 300 ‘Senna II’ models were produced, with this example being marked as number 217 of that limited run.
• The odometer displays just 1,002km.
• This 916 Senna was first registered in April 1997, and was acquired by the seller seven years ago. Since then it has been used as a showpiece, and has been kept in the current keeper’s dining room since 2014, shortly after its last service that included new belts in November 2013.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Introduced at the 1994 Bologna Motor Show, the 916 Senna was created in honour of Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna. In total, three variations of the Senna edition were sold between 1995 and 2001, with all proceeds from being donated to the Instituto Ayrton Senna charity.
• The 916 Senna features the standard Strada-specification engine, but is fitted with the Öhlins rear suspension and Brembo front brake discs usually found on the higher performance 916 SP.
• As with all Senna IIs, this example is finished in Grigio Argento and rides on a pair of red three-spoke alloy wheels.
• The bike will be accompanied by invoices for two of its prior services and three past MOT test certificates.

CONDITION

• No damage to the frame or body.
• The Grigio Argento paintwork is completely original and is in great shape overall, with only a handful of minor stone chips around the bike and one small blemish on the fuel filler surround.
• The seat, handlebar grips and switchgear all present very well indeed, with no damage or signs of excessive wear.
• There are no known mechanical or electrical faults, though the bike will require a cambelt change and service prior to being used again.
• Its last MOT test was conducted on 15 November 2013 at 999km, resulting in a clean, first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This 916’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in November 2013 at 994km by Sheffield Motorcycle Centre, and included replacement of the cambelt and chain, as well as an oil and brake fluid change.
• Prior to this, the bike was serviced in 2006.

SUMMARY

This Ducati 916 Senna II is a very well-presented example of the rare limited-run sports bike, which has seen no significant use for 14 years, and is offered for sale with exceptionally low mileage as a result. Regarded by many as one of the most beautiful sports bikes ever produced, the 916 is a modern icon, and this Senna II will make a superb addition to any assembly of two-wheeled machines.
