1997 ASTON MARTIN DB7 VOLANTE - MANUAL

This Aston Martin DB7 Volante is a refined drop-top grand tourer, presented in excellent condition and in a sleek Solway Grey finish. It is powered by a 335bhp 3.2-litre supercharged straight-six engine and is of just 150 examples known to have the engaging five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 49,793 miles from new.

An original right-hand drive example, this DB7 Volante was first registered in August 1997, and has benefited from regular maintenance throughout its life. It is now offered for sale by an Aston Martin specialist.

The bodywork of this DB7 presents as it should, with smooth panels and no suggestion of any prior accidents. The Solway Grey paintwork remains in very good order, with an even finish and only small stone chips around the front end and the bonnet, and one or two blemishes on the bumpers. All windows and light lenses appear to be in good condition, while the badging and exhaust tips are also in great shape. The soft top roof mechanism operates as it should. The car sits on the original 12-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, which look superb, having only a small kerb graze on the nearside front rim.

The interior of this DB7 is trimmed with black leather and also features dashes of elegant walnut trim. The vendor has reported some slight wear to the driver’s bolsters from entering and exiting the vehicle, though the wood inlays, dashboard switches and driver controls remain in excellent condition, with minimal wear even to the main contact points. This Aston comes equipped with heated seats, climate control and an Alpine stereo system. The vendor has reported that the electric windows can be slightly slow to open and close, but there are no other known electrical foibles and no warning lights.

The last service was undertaken in July 2016 at 48,072 miles, where technicians at Streffords of Worcester changed the engine oil and filter, before fitting new brake discs and pads. Prior to this, Streffords also serviced the car in 2014 at 47,772 miles, while Aston Martin specialist Four Ashes Garage carried out the maintenance in 2012 at 47,530 miles. The car has recently been fitted with a battery isolator.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 February 2020 at 49,972 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories of defects. The wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone S-02 tyres all round, in correct fitment 245/40/R19, which the vendor reports are in good condition on all four corners.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manual and service book, along with an array of supporting invoices and maintenance documentation.

This Aston Martin DB7 Volante is an elegant modern classic grand tourer. It is understood that only 879 examples of the straight-six convertible were built, and this one is rarer still as one of just 150 cars to be fitted with the manual gearbox. A highly collectable Aston Martin then; this DB7 would make an effortless GT for long-distance road trips, or could simply be savoured on occasional weekend jaunts.
