1995 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA RS CLUBSPORT

This 993-generation Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport is an exceptionally rare car, and a fine example of the last air-cooled model to wear the iconic RS moniker, with only 227 ever made. Its 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine is mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox, and the odometer shows 86,148 miles (138,642 km) from new.

First registered on 19 April 1995, this left-hand-drive Carrera RS Clubsport is a C00-code German delivery car, but most of its prior history is from Japan. It was imported and registered in the UK in April 2018. The seller has only owned the car for a few months, but is a passionate enthusiast who has recently acquired a 993-generation 911 GT2 to take the place of this RS in his collection.

This lightweight special presents in unmodified and authentic condition, with its special order Polar Silver paintwork having been fully repainted prior to the vendor’s ownership. Reputedly one of only seven cars finished in this hue, the only blemishes are a handful of minor stone chips on the front bumper.

The wide rear arches are fitted with clear paint protection film ahead of the wheels. Apart from a stone chip on the front right headlight (as shown in the photographs), badging and lights are free from hazing and cracks, and the shut lines are excellent, with the owner having purchased the car on the understanding it retained original panels throughout. The period-correct Speedline split-rim alloy wheels present remarkably well, with painted centres and polished rims.

Moving to the interior, the upholstery and other trim is in very good overall condition. Its lightweight bucket seats retain the original cloth, which have minimal wear and no rips or tears. Both the gear lever and driver’s window winder have minor nicks and marks, while light scuffs are present on the driver’s side roll cage bar from entry and exit. The door cards and red fabric pull straps are in good order, the driver’s seat is equipped with a five-point Schroth harness, and there are also standard inertia-reel seatbelts for both driver and passenger. The dashboard retains its original gauges and switchgear, and there are no known electrical issues.

The most recent service was carried out less than 1,000 miles ago by marque specialist Ashgood Porsche. This included an oil change, new air and oil filters, as well as replacement of the brake fluid and spark plugs. Prior to this, the 911 has been serviced 16 times throughout its 25-year history to date. There is a raft of service paperwork with the car, mostly from its time in Japan, as well as servicing stickers adorning the engine bay.

Its most recent MOT test was on 5 December 2019 at 137,912km, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever – testament to its fine mechanical order. Featuring staggered sizing of 265/35 ZR18 on the rear axle and 225/40 ZR18 on the front, the Porsche features N3-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, date stamped weeks 47 and 49 of 2015, and all with several millimetres of tread depth.

Accompanying this 993 is the original handbook, service record, spare wheel, jack and tools. Its extensive history file includes lots of documentation from Japan, as well as photos of the refurbishment and repaint carried out a few years prior to the vendor’s ownership.

An exceptionally rare car in a special-order body colour, this highly original 993 Carrera RS Clubsport is in superb condition and is arguably the high watermark of lightweight, air-cooled 911s of the modern era. It is sublime on track, but also makes for a deeply involving and thrilling road car, and would make a great addition to any Porsche collection.
