1995 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA

This Porsche 993 Carrera is a great example of a sought-after modern classic 911, boasting a smart colour scheme and superb maintenance history. Under the engine lid is the 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, producing around 272bhp, coupled to the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 6,779 miles, though the correct total is approximately 105,000 miles due to a documented OEM odometer replacement.

First registered on 1 August 1995, this 993 was acquired by the current owner in May 2015. It left the factory finished in Midnight Blue metallic paint with a light grey leather interior, and was specified with the lowered suspension, 17-inch wheels, and air-conditioning.

Today, its bodywork and paint are still in good condition, with no known panel damage, and with only minor marks commensurate with the age and mileage - including small stone chips at the front, marks on the rear wheel arch guards, and a small scuff on the nearside wing mirror. The protective film sections ahead of the rear wheels are both heavily crazed with age and marked, so would benefit from replacement. Its original wheels have been swapped to Turbo style 18-inch rims, which are in great shape, with only a couple of minor blemishes.

In the cabin, the light grey leather is evidently original and still presents very well for its age. There is some slight surface cracking in the leather on the driver’s seat bolster, and lesser crease marks in the rest of the upholstery, as well as a few stains on the rear seats. It is complemented by blue leather for the dashboard, steering wheel, door caps, and parcel shelf, which remains in good condition.

There is a small heel hole in the driver’s side floor mat, but the original grey carpet throughout is sound with only the odd minor mark. The steering wheel and gear knob both appear to be original, and are worn in line with the mileage, and the only non-factory item is the Sony stereo head unit, which features Bluetooth and USB connectivity. All of the electrical functions work as they should, including the air-conditioning, and there are no warning lights.

Its last scheduled maintenance was in October 2019 at an indicated 4,400 miles (approximately 103,000 miles from new) at Porsche specialist No.5 Garage in West London, which comprised an oil service and brake fluid renewal. During 2020, the same specialist also carried out a refurbishment of the air-conditioning system, though the scheduled late 2020 service was cancelled due to the coronavirus situation.

During the vendor’s ownership, this 993 has also been treated to a refurbishment of the engine cylinder head including valve guides, and an overhaul of the subframe carried out by Porsche Centre Brooklands. The new stereo was also fitted during his tenure, as well as a new immobiliser.

The most recent MOT test was on 2 November 2020 at an indicated 6,744 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories or defects whatsoever. The matching Pirelli P Zero tyres are around five years old, but have ample tread remaining.

Accompanying the car are all of the original handbooks, a comprehensive service history, and photos of the engine overhaul. The toolkit is also present, along with an OEM car cover, two keys and two immobiliser fobs.

This Porsche 993 Carrera is described as being in superb mechanical order, and – unlike many examples lacking engine overhaul work – it does not drip any oil on the floor when parked. A highly original and unmodified example, it has always been garaged by the vendor when not in use, and has been treated to routine and preventative maintenance as needed. As the last air-cooled 911 model, the 993 will no doubt always be sought after by collectors, and in rear-wheel-drive manual transmission specification, this is arguably the driver’s choice.
