1995 FERRARI F355 BERLINETTA

KEY FACTS

  • A superb early production, low mileage, and fastidiously maintained example.
  • Power comes from the 375bhp 3.5-litre F129B V8 engine powering the rear wheels via the open-gate six-speed manual gearbox.
  • Supplied new by Ferrari Autohaus Ulrich, Frankfurt, Germany in February 1995, the vehicle was subsequently imported to the UK in April 1998. The car has been serviced by the same marque specialist (Kent High Performance Cars) ever since.
  • Importantly, this example is supported by an impressive history file documenting maintenance performed, including a raft of invoices and all old MOT certificates covering its life to date, including early servicing in Germany.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • As an early production F355, the interior has the sleek non-airbag three-spoke Momo steering wheel, and features the desirable open-gate gearshift offering a truly engaging driving experience.
  • It is equipped with the Bosch 2.7 Motronic system, which is widely accepted as delivering slightly more responsive performance.
  • Originally specified in Rosso Corsa with Nero, upon arrival in the UK the interior was retrimmed in Crema leather with Bordeaux carpets. The carpets are presented with their original plastic protection, under the original floor mats.
  • A Capristo sports exhaust was fitted in 2013, with new sports catalytic converters fitted in 2020. There are also aftermarket Scuderia wing shields.
  • The car retains its original service and owner handbooks contained within the leather folio case. The complete tool kit is also present.

CONDITION

  • The Pininfarina-styled bodywork appears in excellent order with no visible damage. The vendor notes that the car retains its original glazing throughout, including the front windscreen.
  • To the exterior, the paintwork is described as in overall excellent condition, with the rear bumper re-sprayed in 2020 by Ferrari specialist Barkaways. This was to address a minor parking dent and associated paint damage.
  • The vendor further reports a small number of stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet, a small paint defect near the right fog light, very light scratching to the front grille, as well as three stone chips on the rear engine cover. To the driver’s door, there is small amount of peeling to the satin black paintwork applied to the inner door air vent surround.
  • The 18-inch five-spoke magnesium alloy wheels are in very good condition, though light chipping is evident, and a small amount of bubbling is visible around one of the front wheel valves. All wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.
  • The Crema leather presents very well, with minor creasing to the seat pads and bolsters. Interior trim is in good condition, though small scratches are evident to the centre instrument gauge surround and to the centre console ashtray lid.
  • There are no known mechanical or electrical faults and the vendor reports that all switchgear operates as intended, with no ‘sticky’ buttons often associated with cars of this era. The vendor states that Kent High Performance Cars has referred to this car as a “top tier” example.
  • The most recent MOT test was conducted on 13 October 2020, a pass with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Latest maintenance was completed by Kent High Performance Cars (KHPC) in February 2021, with the odometer reading 39,641 kms, where the car was subject to an engine oil and filter change, new spark plugs, replacement of nearside cooling fan sensor and routine anti-corrosion treatment.
  • In January 2020, at 38,402kms, a service was performed by KHPC including engine oil change and the fitting of four new Michelin tyres. In August 2019, at 37,330kms, maintenance included an annual service, cambelt replacement and air-conditioning service.
  • Between 2007 and 2013 the car was held in storage with KHPC and the service record reflects this dormancy. Upon entering back into use, a significant and documented recommissioning of the vehicle was performed at a cost of £11,240.
