1995 FERRARI 348 SPIDER

Understood to be one of just 68 right-hand-drive examples built, this Ferrari 348 Spider is a remarkably rare convertible supercar, presented in impressive condition. Its engine is the 3.4-litre quad-cam V8, producing 296bhp and driving the rear wheels via a transversely oriented five-speed manual transmission. The odometer now shows just 29,200 miles from new, which is evidenced as being correct by the extensive accompanying documents and MOT history.

Finished in rare Blu Chiaro metallic paint with a dark blue fabric roof, over a Grigio leather interior, this car was supplied by Maranello Concessionaires and sold through official dealer Mortimer Houghton Turner (M.H.T.). One of the very last 348s produced by Ferrari, it was first registered on 11 August 1995, and the log book shows five previous registered keepers. The seller has cared for the car over the past five years, adding just 500 miles to the odometer in that time, with the car being under valid SORN certificates for the vast majority of that period.

The sweeping, Pininfarina-designed bodywork is in excellent condition, with no evidence of any accident damage, and no dents or scrapes. The Blu Chiaro paint is believed to be the factory finish, and still presents superbly. Riding on the original 17-inch five-spoke Speedline alloy wheels, which are in excellent condition, its dark blue fabric hood is also in superb order, with no stains or damage, and fits snugly over the frame. All of the light lenses are in great shape, and there are no chips in the window glass, however, the seller does note that the windscreen has slight delamination at the very bottom edge.

Looking to the interior, light grey Grigio leather covers the seats, transmission tunnel, lower dashboard and lower door cards, and remains in good original condition. It appears to have never been refurbished, with only minor surface cracking and modest wear to the driver’s seat base and side bolster – belying the the car’s age and demonstrating how well this car has been cared for. Continuing the exterior theme, navy blue carpeting is fitted throughout, and is in similarly excellent condition.

The seller notes that there are some chips and scratches present on the interior door handles, and the coating on the plastic air vents is slightly sticky, which is a common – but easily remedied – foible in Ferraris of this era.

The car’s last scheduled maintenance was carried out on 26 January 2018 at 28,809 miles by Christian Lewis Performance and Classic Cars in Bedford, which consisted of a full service and replacement of the cam belt. Prior to this, services were carried out in July 2014 at 28,460 miles by Migiore Cars and in October 2011 at 28,104 miles by Graypaul Ferrari – both of which were also full cam belt services. With a total of eleven services documented, the car has been serviced circa every 2,600 miles. During the seller’s ownership, a new battery and isolator has also been installed.

This 348 Spider was last subjected to an MOT test on 14 December 2019 at 28,945 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. Its wheels are shod in Pirelli tyres, all of which are described as being in excellent condition, with 6mm of tread remaining on the rears and 7mm on the front items.

Accompanying the car is the full tool kit housed in the original Schedoni case, as well as the Schedoni document wallet containing the owner’s manual and stamped maintenance record. The file also contains previous SORN applications, copies of log books, and some MOT certificates dating back to 2007. Two keys are also included, complete with immobiliser fobs. This car has also been fitted with a tracker security device, which is currently inactive, but should simply require a new subscription to reactivate it.

This Ferrari 348 Spider is a rare right-hand-drive example of the marque’s first modern-era convertible supercar, which is presented in impressive condition, having been maintained exclusively by Ferrari main dealers and specialists. Its rare factory colour scheme also sets it apart from most other examples, not to mention its genuine low mileage, so it would be a credit to any collection of Ferraris or analogue supercars.
