1995 DUCATI 916 SENNA

This Ducati 916 Senna is a rare limited edition based on one of the world’s most popular superbike designs, which has been ridden as intended, but still presents in very good order. Its engine is the 112hp 916cc Desmodromic L-twin, which is mated to a six-speed transmission. The odometer shows 22,474 km.

Racing driver Ayrton Senna owned numerous Ducatis, and was a close friend of the family owners of the marque. In the early 1990s, he set about developing a limited-edition model based on the hugely successful 916 series that would see profits go to the Instituto Ayrton Senna charity. Tragically, he did not live to see its launch.

The 916 Senna combined the standard Strada specification engine with the Öhlins rear suspension and Brembo front brake discs from the 916 SP. Just 300 were made in the initial production run, of which this is number 034.

A 1995 model from the first production run of Senna bikes, this 916 was imported to the UK and re-registered with the DVLA in October 2017. It joined The Brunt Collection just over three years ago, where it has resided alongside several other rare and significant Ducatis.

Featuring a metallic grey and vibrant red colour scheme, accented by the unique ‘Senna’ logo, this special 916 also features a carbon-fibre mudguard, and carbon-fibre Termignoni exhaust silencers. The bike’s frame, bodywork, and paint remains in great condition, with what is believed to be the original finish, showing only very minor marks and imperfections in the paint from road use.

During its time in the private collection, this Ducati has received annual oil changes and regular maintenance as needed by the owner’s in-house technician. The most recent MOT test was on 23 March 2021 at 22,474 km, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories, which is further evidence of its impressive condition. The front and rear wheels are fitted with Bridgestone tyres.

This Ducati 916 Senna is a great example of a very rare special edition. Far from being stored and never used, this bike has been ridden as intended, and has clearly been well-maintained throughout its life to date. It will be a tempting prospect for any die-hard Ducati enthusiast or collector, and is certain not to disappoint whenever they are able to enjoy it out on the road or track.
