KEY FACTS

• A well-presented example of the legendary modern classic performance estate, which remains in good overall condition.
• Under the bonnet is the turbocharged 2.2-litre five-cylinder engine, which sends 311bhp and 302lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and Audi’s famed Quattro system.
• Fewer than 3,000 RS2s were delivered worldwide. This left-hand drive example was first registered in March 1995, and was acquired by the seller five years ago.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Based on the steadfast Audi 80 Avant, the RS2 was created in collaboration with Porsche and features significant engine and suspension upgrades, as well as the wheels and brakes previously fitted to the Porsche 968 Club Sport.
• This example is finished in the sleek and timeless hue of Polar Silver, and features black leather upholstery accented by gloss carbon-fibre trim.
• Equipment includes an electric sunroof, climate control and electrically adjustable front seats.
• It rides on the correct 17-inch ‘Cup’ alloy wheels, which frame a set of red Porsche-branded brake callipers, and are in very good shape.
• There are no known cosmetic or mechanical modifications, though the original stereo has been replaced by a more modern Pioneer unit with Bluetooth connectivity and USB-in, and the rear speakers have also been changed for aftermarket items.
• The car will be accompanied by invoices for its recent maintenance, as well a Car-Pass document verifying its mileage.

CONDITION

• No known bodywork damage.
• The Polar Silver paintwork has been refreshed in the past and is in good overall condition, with various small marks and blemishes around the car, in line with its age and mileage.
• Furthermore, there are some small touched-in scuffs on the passenger-side of the front bumper, scrapes on the underside of the front bumper, stone chips and surface corrosion on the front grille, and some cracks on the trim strip at the bottom of the driver’s door.
• It is not known whether the seats have previously been reupholstered, but they present well given the car’s and use, and while there are various creases on their surfaces and wear on the front bolsters, this could likely be improved via some reconditioning.
• The interior trim is presentable, though the headlining is sagging and will need to be fixed back in place or replaced, there are various holes in the passenger-side of the central console where a phone holder was mounted, and there are some small scratches and scuffs on the door cards, as well as wear on the black leather-wrapped gear knob.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
• The car’s last roadworthiness inspection was conducted in August 2019, which resulted in a pass with no warnings or recommendations.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This RS2’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in September 2018 at approximately 126,200km by Garage Hofmans-Van Hoorick, whose technicians replaced the battery and overhauled the air-conditioning system.
• Prior to this, the air conditioning system was recharged in June 2017 at 125,748km, and the engine oil and oil filter were changed in October 2016 at 125,609km.

SUMMARY

This Audi 80 Avant RS2 is an exciting and lesser-seen 1990s performance car, presented in highly original condition and with a handsome factory colour scheme. Representing the inception of Audi’s now renowned ‘RS’ line; this landmark modern classic would be a fun addition to any collection.
