This 1995 Audi 80 Avant RS2 is a coveted high-performance estate, developed as a collaboration project between Audi and Porsche. Under the bonnet sits the turbocharged 2.2-litre inline-five producing around 311bhp and 302lb-ft of torque, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission and the Quattro four-wheel-drive system. The odometer currently indicates 126,211 miles from new.
On the limited-edition RS2, the 2.2-litre engine was given a larger turbocharger, along with a heavy-duty intercooler, higher-flow fuel injectors, a redesigned camshaft, a refined induction system, a low-pressure exhaust, and a new Bosch ECU. It can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds; while in a 1995 Autocar road test, the RS2 hit 30mph from rest in just 1.5 seconds, which made it quicker than a McLaren F1. First registered with the DVLA in December 2000, this RS2 has been with its current keeper for around four years, with just one previous UK owner.
The bodywork of this RS2 is in excellent condition and features a Vulcan Black finish, which is described as being in good condition. It now presents with a few stone chips and a small mark on the rear bumper, while the vendor notes the lower door trims have been resprayed. The distinctive wrap-around rear lights present well, while the car’s body trims, light lenses and RS badging is all in good order. Its original 17-inch Porsche wheels are in exceptional condition and sit in front of the upgraded brakes with Porsche-branded callipers.
Inside, the cabin features Recaro bucket seats, which are trimmed in a combination of black leather and grey Alcantara. The upholstery presents well, with just some age-related creasing to the bolsters and some slight bobbling to the Alcantara centre panels. The fabric in the door cards appears to be slightly loose, though the carbon-fibre accents are in very good order. The cabin features a three-spoke leather steering wheel, a working sunroof, and climate control, while a Blaupunkt stereo system has also been installed. No switchgear faults have been detected, with the vendor noting the electrics have undergone a recent health check.
The last routine maintenance was undertaken in January 2021 at 126,000 miles, where technicians at SuperSpeed in Slough replaced the engine oil, filter, and battery. Prior to this, in December 2020, Audi specialist QST Ltd in West Sussex installed a new cambelt and water pump, alongside a replacement offside front wishbone. A summary of the service history from new is included below.
The most recent MOT test was on 11 December 2020 at 203,117 km (126,211 miles), which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels are wrapped with a set of Goodyear tyres, which have reportedly covered less than 1,000 miles and have 7mm of tread remaining.
Accompanying the vehicle is the original service schedule, alongside a comprehensive maintenance record, which is believed to include every invoice from 1995.
This Audi 80 Avant RS2 in an exciting and sought-after limited-edition estate, presented with an excellent maintenance history and in very good order throughout. Now unquestionably a collectible modern classic, this RS2 remains highly original and is ready to relish on the road.
