1995 ASTON MARTIN DB7

This 1995 Aston Martin DB7 is a sound example of the distinguished grand tourer, presented in a gorgeous colour scheme, which would now benefit from some refurbishment in a few places. It is equipped with the supercharged 3.2-litre inline-six, producing 335bhp and 361lb-ft of torque, which powers the rear wheels via a slick automatic transmission.

First registered in May 1995, this DB7 has been with its current keeper for the last ten years. The odometer currently indicates 93,591 miles from new.

The condition of the Chiltern Green paintwork has been described as excellent, with the vendor noting it has benefited from a respray and now presents with just a couple of very light stone chips on the bonnet and some faint scratches on the roof. The vendor notes the vehicle has previously undergone a repair to fix damage to its nearside front wheel arch, though there is no evidence of the repair work today.

While overall the bodywork presents well, both inner wings are corroded, and would benefit from remedial attention. The same applies to the subframes under the car, as well as the rear exhaust pipes and silencers, with the former a common foible of the DB7 in particular. It rides on a set of refurbished 18-inch alloy wheels, which have a couple of minor chips and some light corrosion, but are in good condition.

Inside, the cream leather trim has some age-related creasing, but the seats have retained their shape very well. The driver has indicated some small scratches on the central divider, as well as a chip in the driver’s door grip surround and a slight crack in the walnut veneer surrounding the gear lever. The rear seats are in good condition, though the black trim between them presents with a couple of light scuffs, and the vendor reports the rear window trim has shrunk slightly, with one side panel slightly peeling away from its clasp. The alarm and immobiliser have been disconnected, though the central locking system is fully functional. Its air-conditioning compressor has a slow leak, and therefore the system does require annual re-gassing to keep it working.

The last routine maintenance took place in July 2020 at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, where technicians changed the engine oil, filters and brake fluid, before re-gassing the air-conditioning and replacing the bonnet struts, nearside track rod end, fuel pipes, supercharger belt and intercooler. A gearbox cooler pipe leak was also repaired, and the headlamps were adjusted.

Prior to this, in June 2019, technicians carried out a service, and replaced various bushes, cables, links and nuts, along with the bleedscrew cap and anti-rattle spring. A new offside wing mirror was fitted, while specialist repairs were carried out to corrosion on the nearside front chassis spring, as well as a faulty offside front speed sensor and wiring lead. In June 2018, the front anti-roll bar bushes were replaced, along with the nearside rear trailing arm, while the ECU was updated. The vehicle has also undergone a gearbox replacement during the vendor’s ownership, alongside extensive routine work.

In reference to the mechanical condition of the car, the vendor notes that the exhaust manifold is slightly cracked, and both the radius arm rear bushes and the rear V-mounts are split. The bonnet bump stops are also perished, and the offside front bump stop is missing.

The most recent MOT test was on 29 July 2020 at 93,431 miles, which resulted in a pass with three advisories to monitor slight play in both front wheel bearings and a worn nearside rear suspension arm bush. The wheels come wrapped with a set of Bridgestone tyres, which are 10 years old, but appear to be in good condition.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original handbooks, service book and toolkit, along with a raft of maintenance invoices dating back to 2007.

This Aston Martin DB7 is a smart modern classic grand tourer, which presents in generally good condition throughout, and which has evidently been well maintained by its current keeper. While there are still some jobs for the next owner to attend to, as mentioned above, this is an elegant and comfortable long-distance cruiser, and represents a compelling entry point into Aston ownership.
