This Alfa Romeo 164 Q4 is a smart example of the Pininfarina-designed four-door saloon, presented in the sports-oriented ‘Quadrifoglio 4’ specification with a 3.0-litre 24-valve V6, producing up to 225bhp and 204lb-ft of torque, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 194,299 km.

First registered in February 1995, this 164 Q4 is an original left-hand drive example, which currently resides in the Netherlands. It has been cherished by the vendor for 10 years.

The bodywork of this 164 Q4 is in very good order, with flush shut lines and no evidence of any prior damage. The Q4 features an extended front spoiler, deeper side skirts and a deeper rear apron, giving the car a more aggressive stance when compared to the standard 164. This example’s paintwork is believed to be original and presents very well overall, with the vendor noting a small scuff on the bonnet and two small scratches to the offside rear bumper trim. The car rides on 16-inch Speedline wheels, which are in excellent condition on all four corners.

Moving inside, the black leather appears with some creasing commensurate with the mileage, though remains in good order throughout, with no evident rips or tears. The vendor has noted that it would benefit from a new headliner, as the original material is now sagging. The leather trimmed door cards appear in good condition, as do the Alfa Romeo-badged manual gear knob and wooden rimmed steering wheel. The cabin now features a modern Pioneer stereo system, installed beneath the 164’s centre console.

The vendor notes the last service was carried out at approximately 190,000 kilometres, and states that it has received regular maintenance throughout their ownership. During their time with the car, the car has had a new steering box, timing belt, water pump and exhaust, as well as attention to the brakes and the four-wheel-drive system.

The latest roadworthiness inspection in the Netherlands was carried out in August 2020, and the vendor reports that there were no faults or warnings arising from that test. The car rides on Toyo TR tyres in fitment 205/55/R16 all round, which the vendor notes are nearly new.

This 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 Q4 is a great example of the flagship performance model of the era, which remains in highly original condition. Its sophisticated Pininfarina styling is enhanced by the Q4’s aerodynamic additions, while the legendary ‘Busso’ V6 gives the car an impressive turn of pace, not to mention a wonderful soundtrack. A compelling opportunity for any Alfa Romeo enthusiast, this would also be a credit to any collection of modern classics.
