1994 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO VR6

This Volkswagen Corrado VR6 is a fun and accessible modern classic, presented in superb unmodified condition, with single ownership from 1994 until 2019. It is powered by the 2.9-litre narrow-angle V6 engine producing 188bhp, and driven through the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates just 74,274 miles from new, which is fully supported by the comprehensive history.

Delivered new to the UK, this Corrado VR6 was supplied to its first owner via dealer F.C. Purser in London, and was first registered on 4 March 1994. This custodian evidently enjoyed the car, holding onto it for 25 years, and keeping it meticulously maintained throughout that period. It was acquired by the seller last year, and has been refurbished and freshly serviced during his brief ownership.

The bodywork on this Corrado is in superb order, and the Satin Silver metallic finish presents beautifully. It has been treated to a full glass-out respray in the original colour within the last 18 months, with the aim of making this car as smart as it would have been when delivered to its first owner. The wheel arches and sills are in great shape, and the front end appears to be free of stone chips.

It is fitted with an original set of 15-inch five-spoke Speedline alloy wheels, which are in wonderful condition, even retaining the original centre caps. All of the plastic trim and rubber seals are in very good order, showing only some light fading of the black finish. The rear spoiler raises and lowers as it should.

Once you have taken time to appreciate the exterior, the interior of this Corrado does not disappoint. Like the rest of the car, it remains in unmodified condition and retains the original steering wheel and gear knob. The sport seats are upholstered in geometric fabric that is still in very good condition, with minimal signs of wear. The original black carpeting is also in great shape, protected by rubber floor mats.

While the engine bay of this Corrado VR6 might not be up to the same pristine standards as the bodywork, it is in very good mechanical order and has comprehensive service history from new. There are 22 stamps in the maintenance record covering the first keeper’s 25-year ownership, and the seller commissioned further scheduled maintenance in August 2019. This comprised a major service, including renewal of the alternator belt, along with fresh engine oil, and new oil and air filters. All of the brake discs and pads were also replaced, and the interior and exterior were treated to a thorough detailing session.

The most recent MOT test was on 16 September 2019 at 74,032 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. In the last 13 years of MOT tests covering some 11,000 miles on the road, there has never been any advisory regarding corrosion, which is another indicator of its impressive condition. The tyres are size 205/50 ZR15 all round, and were fitted as brand-new items last year.

Accompanying this Corrado is the complete and original book pack and leather wallet, including all user guides, stereo manual and the stamped maintenance record. There is also a raft of paperwork from the first owner’s time with the car.

This VW Corrado VR6 is a remarkably original and unmolested example of a popular modern classic. There can be few such cars that benefit from impeccably documented single ownership for 25 years, and the present keeper has ensured that the car remains in top-notch condition, ready for its next enthusiast owner. It would be very difficult to find another with such a compelling blend of known provenance, relatively low mileage, and great presentation.
