1994 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA TIPTRONIC

This 1994 Porsche 911 Carrera is a superb sports car in fine fettle, supported by an extensive service history file. It is equipped with its original 3.6-litre flat-six engine, coupled to the four-speed Bosch-ZF Tiptronic rear transaxle. Finished in the handsome colour combination of Iris Blue over a grey leather interior, the car has covered 139,261 miles from new.

An original UK-supplied right-hand drive example, this 911 Carrera was first registered in August 1994. Within just a few months, the first owner had covered some 2,700 miles, and its first service was in November that year. By 2010, the odometer recorded just over 127,000 miles, which is when the current owner - only the third keeper from new - acquired the car.

The vendor bought the car from Dove House Motor Company, who also knew the previous keeper of the car from 1997 to 2010. In the last nine years he has enjoyed around 10,000 miles behind the wheel. With less use in the last year or so, he is now offering it for sale to an enthusiast who can continue enjoying the car.

The Iris Blue paintwork is in excellent condition, with the vendor having had the bonnet resprayed when he acquired the car and some minor stone chips rectified. The owner has supplied an extensive set of photographs of the car, so prospective bidders can review the condition in detail. It has full 3M paint protection film on the bumpers, bonnet, wings and lights to guard against chips and minor damage.

It sits on a set of 17-inch ‘Cup 2’ alloy wheels that are in very good order, with only a few minor chips and one small kerb graze. All of the light lenses and the reflector strip at the rear are in great condition, with no cracks or chips. The seals and rubbers are also all undamaged.

The interior trim is in superb condition, with all-original full grey leather upholstery that features perforated seat centre panels. Some minor scuffs to the driver’s seat bolster could easily be re-connolised, while the rest of the leather looks pristine. The steering wheel and gear lever are trimmed to match.

At the front, the comfort seats are electrically-adjustable, and the cabin also benefits from a factory-fitted sunroof, electric windows and air-conditioning. The latter is currently not functioning, and may need re-gassing. Ahead of the driver, the steering wheel features thumb shift controls for the Tiptronic gearbox. The car is also equipped with a brand-new Pioneer stereo head unit that also has Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.

The superb service record documents 19 services from new, with all but two of those at Porsche main dealers or well-respected marque specialists. It was last serviced two years ago by the Dove House Motor Company, including fresh oil and filters, and the car has covered just 1,000 miles since then. On time rather than mileage, the car would benefit from a fresh service after being handed over to its next owner.

It is covered by an advisory-free MOT until May 2020. The wheels are shod in a matching set of N2-rated Continental SportContact 2 tyres, in size 205/50 ZR17 at the front and 255/40 ZR17 at the rear. The rear tyres are as-new, while the fronts still have plenty of tread remaining. It is also equipped with a brand-new battery that has a five-year warranty.

The Tiptronic transmission should not be written off by anyone who has not experienced a car equipped with one. Writing of his first experience of Porsche’s Tiptronic transmission in the previous 964 model, Motor Sport’s Jeremy Walton said: “The everyday ability of the 911 is enhanced by the presence of Tiptronic. The change quality and speed is the best I have ever experienced in any kind of automatic.”

It comes with the complete and original owner’s pouch, including the handbook, maintenance booklet, service directory and the user manual for the updated stereo. An all-weather fitted car cover is also included. There is an extensive record of stamped service history from new, supporting what is clearly a cherished car.

This Porsche 993 Carrera wears its age and mileage very well, and has had just three owners from new. It is a terrific example of the marque’s very last air-cooled 911 model, equally well-suited to daily driver duties as to spirited weekend runs on the next owner’s favourite roads.
