1994 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 PICK UP

This 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 Pick Up is a solid example of the rugged utility vehicle, which has a weathered appearance but rides on a refurbished chassis and suspension. Under the bonnet sits a 2.5-litre inline-four diesel engine, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission with four-wheel-drive. The odometer currently indicates 105,356 miles from new.

First registered in January 1994, this Land Rover has just one previous keeper on the V5C, and is now offered for sale by the trade. The exterior has been fitted with a front bumper and bull bar unit, rear bumperettes, side steps, along with replacement mud flaps, a new exhaust and 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin now features replacement seat bases and a new cubby box.

The car’s rugged bodywork all appears to be in sound condition, though one small dent has been reported in the nearside front wing, and it has had repairs to the doors in 2015. The red paintwork is believed to be largely or wholly original and presents in fair order, with stone chips around the lower door panels, flaking and lacquer peel on the lower doors, as well as some flaking on the tailgate and around the rear storage area. The black body trims feature some similar age-related scuffs, though the alloy wheels present well, with just one or two small scratches and surface marks.

Inside, the replacement cubby box and seat bases present very well, though some age-related scuffs can be seen on the rails beneath. The rest of the hardwearing black vinyl seat upholstery is also in great shape for its age. Some slight discolouration can be seen on parts of the black flooring, centre console, dashboard and driver’s door card, while some dark patches are visible in the light grey headlining. The dials have a few light scratches, though all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

Alongside the cosmetic changes, this Defender has also been given a partial chassis replacement – as indicated on the 2012 invoice in the gallery – and a new rear cross member, water pump, along with new brake discs, pads and callipers. In 2015, new front shock absorbers and turret tops were installed, plus a new steering damper, and a replacement clutch with new master and slave cylinders. The vendor reports the car had its engine oil and filter replaced in 2020.

The most recent MOT test was on 16 December 2020 at 105,355 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects noted. The four Advantage tyres are reported to be in good condition.

Accompanying the vehicle are the spare wheel and jack, along with a selection of maintenance invoices.

This Land Rover Defender 90 is a rugged 4x4, which has had notable mechanical refurbishment carried out within the last 1,500 miles, but retains a patinated and utilitarian appearance. A capable farm vehicle or a reliable companion for weekend off-road jaunts; this Defender is ready for action and is a lovely original example at 27 years old, which could easily be further enhanced or customised as desired.
