KEY FACTS

• As a Daimler variant of the XJ40, the car is particularly well-appointed, with a full ‘Doeskin’ leather interior, wood veneers and folding picnic tables at rear.
• Additional equipment includes the factory-fitted radio/cassette player, air-conditioning, an electric sunroof, cruise control, and electrically adjustable heated seats.
• Accompanying the car is its full original book pack including the handbook and stamped service book, as well as invoices detailing its previous maintenance and all of its past MOT test certificates.

CONDITION

• Bodywork is in good order, with one small dent on the rear driver’s-side door.
• The Morocco Red paintwork may have been resprayed in the past but is in fair overall condition, with various small scratches and stone chips around the car.
• Interior is smart but features some slight damage and wear. The leather on the driver’s seat’s outer bolster has split, revealing the piping strip beneath, and the wood veneer on the ashtray lid has broken away. The veneer surrounding the overhead courtesy lights is missing.
• All switchgear and electrical items work as they should.
• No known mechanical faults.
• The most recent MOT test was on 2 March 2021 at 105,430 miles, which resulted in a clean pass after the front shock absorbers were replaced.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Its most recent routine maintenance was carried out in February 2021 at 105,400 miles by Ayris Automotive, who carried out a general service including an engine oil and filter change.
• The cylinder head was rebuilt in 2019, when the gaskets and valves were also replaced.
• During the seller’s ownership, new front shock absorbers have also been fitted during the most recent MOT test.

SUMMARY

This Daimler XJ40 is a sound example of the elegant and refined British luxury saloon.
