1993 BMW (E34) M5 TOURING - NURBURGRING EDITION

This BMW (E34) M5 Touring is in very smart condition and benefits from the sought-after Nürburgring Handling Package with electronic damper control. It is powered by the 3.8-litre ‘S38’ straight-six, which produces up to 335bhp and drives the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays 215,250km (133,750 miles) from new.

One of only 891 E34-generation M5s produced with the Touring body style, this rare left-hand-drive BMW was first registered in Germany in January 1994, and was imported into the UK and registered with the DVLA in December 2012. The current owner acquired it from a fellow M5 enthusiast just over two years ago.

Thanks to its keepers’ careful ownership, this M5’s bodywork remains in great shape, with no evidence of corrosion or any prior accident damage. Believed to have been either partly or fully resprayed in the past, the Diamond Black metallic paintwork is described by the vendor as being in good condition, and while there are a few minor blemishes and stone chips to its surface, this is in line with the car’s age and road use.

The vendor notes that the rare electrically operated double sunroof has been fully rebuilt, so now works perfectly, and the car’s rear spoiler and badges have also been replaced. It rides on the correct set of 17-inch BMW ‘Style 21’ alloy wheels, which have recently been refurbished and are in excellent condition.

Moving into the cabin, the supportive sports seats are trimmed in black leather, and present very well, with only minor creases to their surfaces, and no rips or tears to speak of. The door cards are also covered in black hide and are in good order. While the rear passenger-side arm rest has wrinkled somewhat this does not detract from the interior’s impressive overall condition.

Featuring BMW’s signature ‘M’ tri-colour stitching, the black leather-wrapped steering wheel is in great shape, and the gear knob has been replaced with a new item. All of the interior buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This M5’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out at 133,000 miles by Gordon Service Ltd, which changed the engine oil, filter and spark plugs. During the seller’s two years of ownership, the adjustable Nürburgring suspension system has also been professionally rebuilt, new front brake pads have been fitted, and other front suspension components have also been replaced.

Furthermore, a new valve cover gasket has been fitted, the coolant tank, air-conditioning condenser, brake lines and battery have been replaced, and the starter motor has been reconditioned.

This fast estate’s last MOT test was conducted on 11 December 2020 at 214,839km (133,495 miles), which resulted in a first-time pass without a single advisory. The front wheels are shod in new Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres, while Continental SportContact 2 items are fitted at the rear. The seller states that all four are in good condition, and have plenty of usable tread remaining.

The car will be accompanied by its original owner’s manual, radio manual and stamped service book.

This E34-generation BMW M5 Touring is a rare modern classic, which remains in good overall condition and has benefitted from light refurbishment in recent years – with particular attention paid to its sought-after Nürburgring Handling Package system. With its engaging manual transmission and naturally aspirated 3.8-litre straight-six, this BMW is sure to please even the most discerning driving enthusiasts, while offering sufficient practicality to make it a fun family car.
