1992 MITSUBISHI 3000 GT VR4

This 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 is an excellent example of a lesser-seen Japanese performance car, presented with very low mileage and in solid condition throughout. Under the bonnet sits the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6, producing around 320bhp and 315lb-ft of torque, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 40,853 miles from new.

First registered in November 1992, this 3000 GT has been with its current keeper for around six months. The history file shows it was given Automotoclub Storico Italiano recognition in January 2012.

The car’s muscular bodywork is all in excellent shape, with flush shut lines, smooth panels and no suggestion of any previous damage. The paintwork is in good condition, and as you might expect from a car with such low mileage, it presents with no obvious stone chips or scuffs. The pop-up headlamps and sunroof appear to be in good working order, while the car rides on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels with a few small kerb scratches.

Inside, the black leather trim is believed to be entirely original, presenting with some age-related creasing. The plastic door cards feature leather inserts and fabric-trimmed lower sections, and the grey dashboard plastics are all in good shape. Its original stereo remains present, and no electrical faults have been detected.

The last routine maintenance on record was undertaken in March 1997 at 22,000 miles, where technicians at Como Car Lecco carried out a complete service. It is not known whether additional routine servicing was carried out between then and now, but any such work is undocumented.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original handbooks and service book, along with a selection of maintenance invoices and Italian registration and ASI documents.

This Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 is a well-preserved example of a relatively rare performance model, which appears to have been remarkably well preserved and remains highly original. It will no doubt appeal to any collectors of Japanese modern classics, and should prove to be an exciting coupe on the open road once a fresh service has been completed.
