KEY FACTS
- This Mercedes-Benz 600 SL is a well-preserved example of the marque’s former flagship convertible, offered with remarkably low mileage.
- Under the bonnet is a 6.0-litre V12 engine, which produces 389bhp and drives the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
- It was originally purchased in 1992, though the vehicle was placed into private storage in 1994, upon the death of its first keeper.
- It emerged in 2017 and was purchased by the seller from the family of the first owner.
- It was put through a recommissioning service and is now ready to be enjoyed.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
- This Mercedes-Benz 600 SL was specified in the popular Blue-Black Metallic paintwork (which presents as a dark grey), black leather upholstery and smart walnut veneer trims.
- Factory equipment includes the desirable factory hard-top, the optional rear seats, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, and electric windows.
- Its original owner’s manuals, service book and spare keys will be included, along with a recent maintenance invoice.
CONDITION
- There has been no bodywork damage.
- The seller states that the car is 100% original ‘first paint’ and is in very good condition, in keeping with the car’s age and mileage.
- There is one minor scratch on the underside of the front bumper and a small patch of surface corrosion on the hard-top roof.
- Inside, the black leather seats have a few light creases, but they have clearly benefited from sparing use.
- No electrical faults have been detected.
SERVICE HISTORY
- Its most recent service was performed at 9,500 km, where technicians at Scuderia Baldini & Co replaced the engine oil, filters, spark plugs, transmission oil and brake fluid, before rebuilding the ABS system and hydraulic suspension.
- Scuderia Baldini also changed all of the electric wiring in the engine bay, and rebuilt the soft top mechanism.
SUMMARY
This Mercedes-Benz 600 SL is a rare, exceptionally low-mileage example of the high-performance roadster, offered in a desirable specification. Fresh from a recent service, it would now make a powerful but refined weekend cruiser, and a great choice for even longer road trips.
