1992 LANCIA DELTA HF INTEGRALE EVOLUZIONE

A menacing ‘black on black’ example of an undisputed hot hatch icon with exciting rally-bred performance, this 1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione is an on-the-button Italian hero. It is powered by a 210hp turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, coupled with four-wheel drive and the five-speed manual gearbox. This Delta Evoluzione has been enjoyed as intended, with the odometer now showing 106,980 km (66,474 miles) from new.

Though Integrales of this era are more often seen in white, red or blue, this car is finished in metallic black, which was an option in period. It was chosen by the car’s original Italian owner, who also specified the luxurious perforated black leather seats, which are more hard-wearing than the Alcantara variants.

The car was imported to the UK in 1998, and there are four previous keepers recorded on the V5C log book. The seller has owned the car for around two-and-a-half years, covering some 1,500 kilometres behind the wheel during that time.

The bodywork is reported to be in good condition, having been previously repainted, with only minor imperfections around the car. These include some scuffing to the front and rear bumpers, a few stone chips on the bonnet and nearside front sill, and a small scratch on the nearside front door. In general, the car presents well, with the blemishes having little impact on a car that has such superb character. The correct 15-inch Speedline alloy wheels appear to be in excellent condition.

Inside the car, the perforated black leather interior is in great shape, with no rips or tears, and only modest wear commensurate with the mileage. The rear seats in particular seem to have been barely used, and the rest of the cabin trim presents smartly. The carpets appear to be original throughout, and are only slightly faded in places. Pleasingly, the car retains the original steering wheel and gear knob, as opposed to modern ‘upgrades’ that are often fitted to Integrales. A contemporary stereo head unit is the only modification.

The car was last serviced in March 2019 by Lancia specialist Walkers Garage, which also replaced the clutch, fuel pump, and air temperature sensor at the same time, along with some welding to the nearside front chassis leg.

Prior to this, the car was given a major service in September 2018, with renewal of the cambelt, as well as an engine oil and filter change. In June 2016, it went through another belt replacement service, which also included a new fuel filter. During the current ownership, the front shock absorbers and brake flexi hoses have also been renewed.

The most recent MOT test was on 14 February 2020 at 106,982 km (66,475 miles), which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The wheels are fitted with Yokohama S Drive tyres in size 205/50 R15, which are in great condition with plenty of tread remaining. Accompanying the car is a workshop manual and a partial tool kit.

Sold with good history file, this is a thoroughly usable yet well sorted ‘pre-cat’ Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione. It is arguably the definitive rally-rep hot hatch, and this example is one that begs to be driven and enjoyed as intended. If you have never had an Integrale in your collection, then now is your chance!
