1992 HONDA BEAT

KEY FACTS

  • A highly original and low-mileage example of the Pininfarina-designed Honda Beat: a sports car launched in Japan to take advantage of its tax-efficient ‘Kei’ class.
  • Powered by a 650cc inline-three engine with individual throttle bodies, producing 63bhp and powering the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.
  • Having never been sold officially in the UK, this Beat was first registered overseas in 1992, and was imported to the UK and re-registered in May 2005 to the current owner.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Riding on its original ‘pepper pot’ alloys, the car is finished in vibrant red with a grey zebra-striped interior.
  • The factory specification includes air conditioning, a rear spoiler and the optional ‘Gathers’ stereo.
  • There is also a mohair soft top and stainless-steel exhaust.
  • The car is accompanied by the import documents and service history from 2005, including MOT paperwork and tax discs.
  • The appropriate registration ‘D18 EAT’ is included in the sale.

CONDITION

  • There is no known bodywork damage.
  • The red paintwork has been refreshed and is in good condition overall, save for a minor parking dent on the door and a few small blemishes and stone chips around the vehicle, including on the wing mirror, rear bumper and door.
  • The interior presents very well, showing few signs of use. The only imperfections are some wear on the outside edges of the seats. The missing seatbelt guides are on back order from Honda, and are included in the sale. Its gear knob has been replaced, but the original item is included.
  • There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test was in December 2020 at 42,718 miles, when the car passed first time with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The car was last serviced in August 2021 at 42,720 miles by the owner, who renewed the engine oil and filters.
  • The service history from 2005 to date is supplied with the vehicle.

SUMMARY

This rare mid-engined two-seat roadster features a characterful engine that revs to 8,500rpm, offering plenty of fun from its compact frame. The last vehicle approved by founder Soichiro Honda, the Honda Beat is a pint-sized sports car, well-suited to negotiating twisting country lanes as a fun weekend toy. It is offered in good condition, and would make a great addition to a collection of unusual Japanese Domestic Market vehicles.
