EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Understood to be a UK-ordered but left-hand-drive example, purchased from Dovercourt VW in London, it was specified without a sunroof, and with a full leather interior, air-conditioning, and electric windows and mirrors.
• This example has more recently been fitted with a full stainless steel Milltek exhaust, Koni coilover suspension, 16-inch steel wheels and an Alpine stereo.

CONDITION

• While it was initially registered in the UK in 1991, this vehicle is believed to have spent a large number of its early years on the continent, and therefore avoided the harsh UK winters. The car’s bodywork supports this, with very little corrosion in areas where UK-residing cars generally suffer. The only body panel that is known to have been replaced is the nearside front wing.
• Its Brilliant Black paintwork is in good condition overall, with some small blemishes around the bonnet, headlights and boot lid.
• A few marks are visible on the plastic front bumper and both rear corners, the offside wing mirror cap is cracked, and the nearside rear window trim has surface corrosion where the rubber has peeled off.
• Inside, the black leather has modest wear for its age and mileage, with the most noticeable section on the driver’s side outer bolster.
• A few light blemishes can be seen on the dashboard plastics.
• The fan switch only works on settings 1 and 4, but otherwise there are no known faults.
• The most recent MOT test was on 6 November 2020 at 119,767 miles, which was a pass with two minor defects; insecure side repeaters, and one advisory to monitor a perishing offside rear tyre. These issues have since been resolved.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The vendor reports that engine oil and filter were last changed in summer 2019, and there are is a handful of receipts for parts from VW specialist The Phirm and the Heritage Parts Centre covering the last few years.
