This 1991 Porsche 944 Turbo is a handsome and highly original modern classic performance car, presented in sound mechanical condition thanks to an extensive maintenance history. It is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine producing 247bhp, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The odometer indicates 92,689 miles from new.

First registered in January 1991, this 944 Turbo is understood to have just four owners from new, with its current keeper acquiring the car five years ago.

The bodywork of this 944 Turbo presents in good order, with flush shut lines and smooth panels. The vendor notes that the front wings have previously been replaced due to corrosion, using OEM parts, so this common job has already been sorted. This example’s Velvet Red metallic finish is in generally excellent condition, with the notes including a minor stone chip on the front valance and one or two light marks around the rear end. Its pop-up head lights are still fully functional, presenting with no sign of any clouding or stone chips. The car rides on a set of seven-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels, which are pristine on all four corners.

Moving inside, the cabin of this 944 features beige leather upholstery, which is believed to be entirely original, and appears with some age-related creasing and more prominent wear to the driver’s seat bolsters in particular. There are light marks and minor surface scratches around the main contact points and trims, as you would expect from an unrestored 29-year-old car, but overall the cabin looks very smart. The Kenwood stereo system appears to be period-correct, and all of the switchgear and electrics are reported to be in good working order.

The last service was undertaken in September 2020 at 92,683 miles, where technicians at HP Porsche in Ilford changed the engine oil, filter and spark plugs, before replacing the ignition leads and distributor cap. Beyond routine maintenance over the last five years, the front lower arm bushes and a ball joint have also been renewed during the current ownership. The most recent MOT test was on 11 September 2020 at 92,689 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels are wrapped in Continental SportContact tyres all round, which the vendor notes have plenty of tread remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manual and service book in their factory wallet, as well as the original air compressor kit, a raft of maintenance invoices, a number of previous tax discs and MOT certificates, and two keys.

This Porsche 944 Turbo is a superb example of the breed, which has evidently been well-maintained throughout its life.
