1991 NISSAN SKYLINE GTR R32

This Nissan Skyline GT-R is a highly original example of the giant-killing R32 generation model, which now requires mechanical recommissioning and cosmetic refurbishment. Under the bonnets rests the twin-turbocharged RB26DETT 2.6-litre inline six-cylinder engine, producing up to 345bhp and delivering power to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 115,898 km (72,015 miles).

First registered on 1 July 1991, this Skyline was imported into the UK in 2005, and re-registered with the DVLA in October that year. It has had just three owners on UK shores, but was evidently taken off the road in circa 2010, and now requires cosmetic and mechanical attention before putting back into use.

Finished in the R32’s signature shade of metallic Gunmetal Grey, the paintwork is in need of attention. A sizeable scratch is visible on the bonnet, while scuffs can also be seen on the corners of the front bumper. The R32’s square-jawed bodywork will also require some remedial work, with rust visible behind the rear wheel arches, on the driver’s side wing, and the fuel filler flap. Signs of ageing are also visible on the original badging retained throughout, as well as the glass and rear spoiler. The Skyline wears 17-inch Gewall split-rim alloy wheels, which would benefit from refurbishment.

Inside, the Skyline’s interior has fared better than the exterior following its time in storage. The blue cloth seats remain in good condition, with the most obvious signs of age and use visible on the heavily worn steering wheel, gearstick and handbrake gaiters, as well as the interior door handles. Such is the relative originality of this tuner favourite that it still retains its Skyline-branded floormats, while a GReddy turbo gauge and HKS electronic valve controller are fitted in the centre console.

A Kenwood CD changer is visible in the boot, while a rear strut brace has also been added. The vendor states that there is an immobiliser fault, but that the electric windows, power folding mirrors and lights remain operational. A Cobra alarm system has also been fitted.

The vendor does not know when the car was last serviced, but as it requires mechanical and cosmetic attention before being returned to the road, the new owner is strongly advised to carry out a comprehensive inspection and service due to its considerable time spent in storage. No service history is present with the vehicle.

The most recent MOT test was on 24 November 2009 at 115,710 km (71,898 miles). This was a first-time pass, with advisories for damage to the offside rear tyre, slight play in the offside rear wheel steering connection, and also noting that the rear wheel steering system as a whole was inoperative – though the rear wheels were substantially held in the straight-ahead position. All four of the R32’s tyres require replacement as they are aged and show signs of cracking.
