This Porsche 964 Carrera Cabriolet is a great open-top sports car, which would make a refined and characterful cruiser for warm weather drives. It is powered by an air-cooled 3.6-litre flat-six, producing around 247bhp in stock form, driving the rear wheels through the four-speed Bosch-ZF Tiptronic transmission. The odometer shows 137,192 km.

First registered in 1990, and supplied by Hamiltons in Melbourne, this Carrera has been with its most recent private owner for the last two years. It remains well preserved, retaining its original interior trim and - it is believed - its original factory paint.

There is no known damage to the bodywork, and today its silver paint presents with only minor marks and small stone chips, and a small blemish visible behind the nearside front wheel. The door shuts are all sound, as are the apertures around the front bonnet and the engine lid. Its black fabric soft top has evidently been replaced in the past and is in virtually as-new condition, with no damage or discolouration. The car rides on 17-inch ‘Cup 1’ alloy wheels, which are all pristine.

Inside, the black leather wears its mileage well, with only very modest creasing and wear to the seat bolsters and bases, though there is more noticeable scuffing on the front right corner of the driver’s seat base. There are some nicks on the handbrake grip, and the original steering wheel now has an appealing patina, and the rest of the interior trim is in very good condition for its age and mileage.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in July 2019 at Porsche specialist Autohaus Hamilton, and the vendor reports that its service history is excellent, with the majority of work completed at main dealers or recognised specialists.

Autohaus Hamilton recently carried out a thorough mechanical inspection, and as a result the engine was stripped down to the case, checked, and put back together with a new gasket kit, through-bolt O-rings, piston rings and any other replacement components required to rectify the typical oil leaks. It has also received new shock absorbers, engine mounts, front control arm bushes, and new roof motors among other items. It was subject of a roadworthiness check in December 2020, which revealed no issues at all.

Accompanying the car are the original books, one key, and the very good history file. The original toolkit, spare wheel and tyre, and jack are also present.

This Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet is a smart example of an iconic 911, which delivers rear-wheel-drive air-cooled excitement, as well as proven reliability. It should prove to be a great choice for long road trips or just weekend jaunts to the beach, and is reported to be in fine mechanical condition, ready to enjoy.
