KEY FACTS

• An excellent example of this highly desirable classic 1990s hot hatch that is in remarkable condition throughout with a superb engine, paintwork and fantastic interior.
• Under the bonnet is the fully rebuilt 1.9-litre inline-four, which produces up to 126bhp and drives the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
• The car has only three registered keepers from new, and was previously owned by Drew Pritchard of DP Classics who commissioned an extensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment project costing several thousand pounds.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

• The engine has been stripped and completely rebuilt by DN Events and overseen by UK Peugeot specialist Darren Langeveld. Work included a reconditioned cylinder head, new valve guides, valve stem seals and recut valve seats.
• A new clutch, thorough inspection of the gearbox, new brake lines, a full OEM exhaust and new tyres were also fitted at the same time.
• Cosmetic improvements undertaken during the restoration include stripping and powder coating the front sub frame, suspension assemblies and other components. The underbody was also stripped and repainted, including repairs to the boot floor.
• Localised paint repairs were also made to the body, followed by a full detail.
• An excellent service history, original book pack and detailed invoices for the recommissioning work will all be included in the sale.

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage and lots of original details and equipment.
• The Alpine White finish presents beautifully with only very small stone chips reported, which have been touched in. The underside of the car looks factory fresh – as shown in the gallery.
• The interior is in wonderful condition, with smooth leather bolsters and smart fabric centre panels on the seats. It remains highly original, even including the factory-fitted Peugeot-branded Clarion stereo head unit.
• There are no known faults with the car.
• The most recent MOT was a first-time pass on 13 November 2020 with only an advisory to monitor a chip in the windscreen, which is not affecting the driver’s view.

SERVICE HISTORY

• A detailed invoice on file from DN Events itemises the refurbishment work that was completed in January 2020.
• There is also an invoice from Landspeed Automotive dated to June 2018, when the head gasket and sump gasket were renewed, the front brake discs and pads were replaced, and a new water pump, radiator, and thermostat kit were installed. The cam belt was also changed at 63,110 miles.
• The car also comes with older main agent service history records, including the original book pack and service booklet.

SUMMARY

The Peugeot 205 GTI is lauded as one of the greatest hot hatches of all time, and this highly original and recently recommissioned example of the 1.9-litre model is presented for sale in outstanding condition for its age.
