1990 MERCEDES-BENZ (W124) 300E 3.4 AMG

KEY FACTS

• A handsome and particularly rare pre-merger AMG, presented in excellent condition and with low mileage.
• Under the bonnet is now a 3.4-litre 24-valve ‘M104’ inline-six, which produces 268bhp and drives the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
• Delivered new to Japan in 1990, this left-hand drive 300E is understood to have been immediately sent to AMG Japan for a full conversion. The car was imported to the UK and re-registered in August 2020, and is now offered for sale via the trade.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Enhanced by AMG front and rear bumpers and a bespoke AMG boot spoiler, the car’s exterior has a more aggressive aesthetic, in line with its enhanced performance.
• Inside, the cabin features heated Recaro sport front seats, and is trimmed in black leather with wood trim and an ample helping of AMG badges.
• While its appearance is bound to turn heads, this AMG’s true party piece is its engine, which was enlarged to 3.4 litres and features upgraded crank and camshafts, increasing its output by 40bhp compared to standard.
• From the factory, it was equipped with dual-zone climate control and cruise control.
• It rides on the correct set of five-spoke AMG alloy wheels, which were produced by OZ Racing and are pristine.

CONDITION

• There is no reported damage to the bodywork.
• While it is not known whether the paintwork has previously been refinished, it presents well, with a smooth and glossy appearance around the entire vehicle and with no substantial marks or blemishes.
• Inside, the black leather interior upholstery is in great shape, and the wood trim is in very good condition - though the lacquer on the centre console is cracking slightly.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults, and all of the switchgear works as it should.
• The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 7 May 2020 at 73,934 km, resulting in a first-time pass without a single advisory or defect noted. A fresh MOT certificate will be supplied ready for handover to the next owner.
• The vendor does not have any maintenance records for the vehicle, which is of course not uncommon for Japanese imports.
