1990 MAZDA RX-7 TURBO II SERIES 5

This Mazda RX-7 Series 5 Turbo II is a wonderful and highly original example of the breed, finished in a vibrant factory colour. It is fitted with the twin-scroll turbocharged 13B-T rotary motor, displacing 1.3-litres, which sends 200hp/149kW to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. The odometer shows 53,679km.

Understood to have been imported to Australia in 2005, it was subsequently given the necessary compliance modifications, when the odometer showed 33,332 km. It has been in the current ownership for the last two years.

From all inspections carried out during the vendor’s ownership, there are no signs of any previous accident damage, repair or repainting. It presents in excellent overall condition, and the paintwork is believed to be the factory finish. There are a few very minor imperfections in the finish, but the vendor has wisely decided not to touch these in, given the car’s visible originality.

Likewise, the interior is equally original and mostly in excellent condition for its age. There is only some minor discoloration on the driver’s seat bolster to note, and the seat’s padding is still supportive. All gauges and instruments are in working condition, with no faults or warning lights. Period inclusions to note comprise the factory stereo system complete with original speakers, and a manually adjustable graphic equaliser. A seatbelt compliance modification was undertaken in December 2005 after import; this being the sole change to its factory status.

This RX-7 Turbo II Series 5’s original alloy wheels are fitted with Hankook tyres from 2015. To varying degrees, there’s slight outer damage to all four wheels from kerb scrapes, but all inner spokes appear to be undamaged.

Prior to the current owner’s custodianship, the car was unused between 2010 to 2015. It has recently been fully detailed and the brakes have been bled, along with an oil and oil filter change and coolant check. It was last inspected for roadworthiness on 30 January 2020, with no issues reported.

Presented in impressive condition, this Mazda RX-7 Turbo II Series 5 is a highly original car with a period-perfect 1990s ambience. It presents honestly and would be a great GT car for weekend fun or longer road trips alike.
