This 1989 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 is an unmolested example in a great factory colour scheme, which has covered only 68,582 miles from new. It is powered by the 3.6-litre flat-six engine, which is driven through a five-speed manual transmission.
An example of the eminently usable four-wheel-drive variant of the already highly capable 964, this is an ideal 911 for a road-tripping enthusiast or a collector looking for a pure and unmolested classic air-cooled Porsche. It is finished in its original colours of Guards Red over Linen leather. Not only a low-mileage car, this example also boasts an extensive service history and is in superb condition today.
Originally supplied by Douglas Cameron of Perth (now known as Porsche Centre Perth), this 911 is an original UK C16 car, first registered on 1 August 1989, and initially used as a dealer demonstrator. Its first months in the UK were spent carrying out its duties convincing potential buyers of the benefits of the 964 over the outgoing Carrera 3.2, and the car is now available to charm a new owner.
The Guards Red paintwork has a deep shine and gloss, having been repainted previously and cherished since. The bodywork has crisp lines, with rubbers and exterior plastics remaining in fantastic condition. Paintwork in internal areas around the engine bay, front boot area and door shuts is also excellent, and the 17-inch ‘Cup’ alloy wheels are in pristine order, fitted with a fresh set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres.
Benefitting from the factory sunroof option, the interior is further lightened by the smart Linen leather with red piping to match the exterior colour. The overall condition is excellent, testament to the low mileage of the car. Devoid of the usual scuffs, creases and heavy wear usually seen on cars of this age, the upholstery is in superb order throughout.
Ahead of the driver is a three-spoke Nardi steering wheel. Factory-fitted equipment includes electrically adjustable Sport seats, climate control, and electric windows. There is also an aftermarket stereo head unit.
This 964 boasts superb maintenance history, with the original service booklet showing 22 stamps from both main dealers and specialists including JZM and GT One. In late January 2020, the car was given a complete engine strip down and rebuild by Porsche Centre Brooklands, at a cost of roughly £7,000, meaning that it is now ready for many more miles with its next owner. Other recent work has also included renewal of the rear spoiler motor.
Its last MOT test was on 14 January 2019 at 67,996 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with only a few advisories that were subsequently attended to. The car will be handed over to the next owner with a fresh 12-month MOT certificate.
This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is a truly superb example of the 964 model. With a comprehensive service history and low mileage, this car has been cherished and is now looking for a new owner to sample its classic air-cooled exhaust note, four-wheel-drive grip and gorgeous body lines.
