1989 PORSCHE 911 3.2 SPEEDSTER

KEY FACTS

  • A rare, right-hand drive example of the iconic air-cooled sports car, presented in superb condition throughout and with only three former keepers from new.
  • Under the engine lid is the air-cooled 3.2-litre flat-six, which sends 228bhp to the rear wheels via a ‘G50’ five-speed manual transmission.
  • As confirmed by the car’s Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this Speedster left the factory in May 1989, and it has been with its current owner since June 1993, spending the majority of the time since then in France.
  • It has only had three former keepers, and was previously owned by Sir Anthony Bamford, chairman of JCB.
  • Inspired by the iconic 356 Speedster model, this 911 3.2 Speedster is one of approximately 2,100 examples, and one of only 139 right-hand drive cars.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Finished in Arctic Silver metallic over a ‘Colour to Sample’ Plum Red leather interior, this is a genuine C16-code, UK-supplied model, with its factory wax oil still showing.
  • Specified with the wide body ‘Turbo’ look, this Speedster also features a shorter aluminium-framed windscreen with a shallower rake, and a ‘double bubble’ rear cover housing the fabric soft top, giving a distinctive look when viewed from behind. The seats are also mounted lower in the cabin.
  • The 911 Speedster was created as a pared-back performance variant, omitting air conditioning, electric windows and even power steering. This focus on weight-saving translates to a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.
  • The Super Sport Equipment, or ‘Turbo Look’ package, included 911 Turbo axle brackets and stabilisers, and more powerful brakes.
  • This example rides on its original Fuchs alloy wheels featuring Porsche-crested centre caps, shod in Bridgestone tyres
  • Specified options include electrically operated seats and the omission of the front and rear spoilers.
  • The car is currently fitted with a ‘Blaupunkt Dortmund 230 DAB’ stereo, and a period-correct Blaupunkt radio-cassette unit is also included, alongside manuals for both.
  • Also accompanying the car are its complete and original book pack, all sales brochures, two original service books, two sets of keys with Porsche immobilisers, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, original bill of sale, original Porsche tyre pressure gauge, touch-up stick, and a portfolio containing the V5 registration document, various service invoices and MOTs, and vehicle tracker data.
