EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Styled by Pininfarina, the 205 CTI offers almost all of the sharp, engaging handling of its iconic GTI brother, with the added duality of open-top motoring.
• This example is finished in white with a grey and red cloth and partial leather interior.
• It rides on the correct set of 14-inch ‘Pepperpot’ alloy wheels, which are in very good shape.
• The car will be supplied with all of its original handbooks, its stamped service book, its full original tool kit and a selection of service receipts which cover the period 2002 - 2013.

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage. However, the seller notes that there is corrosion covering an 18-inch stretch of the top drainage gulley between the boot lid and the hood – not visible when the boot is closed – which has previously been repaired to a poor standard and will require further attention.
• The paintwork is in good overall condition, with a few blemishes in line with the car’s age, including stone chips on the nose and marks on the front wings.
• The passenger door also appears to have been repainted in the past, and while the paint colour is not a perfect match, this is only noticeable upon close inspection.
• The exterior trim presents well, but there is minor damage to the front and rear bumpers’ signature red stripes, while the rubber seals at the bottom of the nearside window appear to have shrunken slightly.
• The black convertible hood fits snugly over the frame below, and is free of any rips or tears.
• Inside, the upholstery and trim are smart, and while there is some creasing on the seat bolsters, a small tear to the vinyl on the back of the passenger seat and some wear on the base of the driver’s seat, this is in line with the car’s use and mileage, and the red ‘Quintet’ fabric is available from a number of model specialists.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
• The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 6 April 2021 at 92,953 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This 205’s most recent routine maintenance was an oil and filter service, which was carried out in April 2021 by Bramfield Automotive Engineers.
• Prior to this, French car specialists Southfields Garage performed a minor service including a brake fluid flush in 2013 at 91,849 miles, and a major service in 2012 91,447 miles which comprised an engine oil, oil filter, spark plug and gearbox oil change, as well as adjustment of the brakes.
• The seller also notes that the cambelt was replaced when they acquired the car in 2014.

SUMMARY

Offering an agile, playful chassis, a rev-happy engine and the appeal of a convertible soft top, this Peugeot 205 CTI 1.6 may just be the ideal summer driver for any classic hot hatch enthusiast or marque collector. Presented in good order, this example would benefit from a little smartening up in due course, but is ready to drive and enjoy.
