1989 LANCIA DELTA INTEGRALE 16V

Finished in classic Rosso Monza with Light grey Alcantara and multi-colour stripe interior, this 1989 Lancia Delta Integrale 16V is a supremely usable example of a rally icon turned hot hatch hero. With the odometer indicating 146,252 kilometres, this Integrale is on the button and ready for a new owner.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 16-valve engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, the 16-valve Integrale was introduced in 1989 to further Lancia’s dominance in the dirt. Without such swollen bodywork as later ‘Evolution’ cars, the 16V is a lesser seen variant that offers the legendary Integrale handling and turbo power in a more subtle package.

First registered in Italy on 31 December 1989, the car was imported into the UK in May 1996. From 2008 to 2016, the car has been off the road and officially SORN. The vendor purchased the car around four years ago and covered approximately 7,500 kilometres during this time.

The Rosso Monza paintwork is in good condition, with a high gloss and crisp lines; although, the paintwork is not perfect. The vendor notes there are small dents to the driver’s side, a light dent on the hood, the passenger side wing mirror arm is slightly damaged, and there are general age-related chips and paint blemishes around the car.

Moving inside, the iconic Delta interior with yellow analogue gauges and multicolour stripe seats is in good condition with some age-related wear. The door cards and carpets present very well, but the vendor has noted that there is some threading on the driver’s seat and that the rear parcel shelf with upgraded speakers is not original, nor are the MOMO steering wheel and gear knob. The vendor reports that the rear wiper button doesn’t work, and although the rear window spray and resulting wiping motion are working well, the head unit isn’t functional. The tachometer also occasionally reads below true.

The car was most recently serviced at specialists Auto Integrale Reading in January 2020 at 145,969 kilometres, and prior to this, the car received a large service at Riverside Performance Engineering in October 2018 with an invoice for £3,292.38 — both of these invoices can be viewed in the photo gallery. The cam belts were replaced in 2016 at 138,951 kilometres.

The car was MOT tested on 23 January 2020 with an advisory for all tyres. These were promptly replaced with new Toyo Proxes TR1 items, which have covered less than 50 miles. During the time of the MOT, the oil, oil filter and fuel filter were changed and the alternator, spark plugs, indicator stalk and air temperature sensor were replaced. The vendor also reports that during his ownership some small rust repair was carried out in the roof edge in February 2019, and that the car was fitted with a performance chip prior to his ownership and will be sold with original ECU chip and chip manual.

Sold with comprehensive records from its time in the UK, as well as some Italian invoices and even the original sales invoice (documents can been seen in the photo gallery), this Delta Integrale 16V is a hugely usable example sold in fine running order and destined to delight on the road, where a Delta truly belongs.
