1988 MERCEDES-BENZ (R107) 560 SL - 19,678 MILES

This Mercedes-Benz 560 SL is a superbly presented example of the marque’s powerful flagship 1980s roadster, with remarkably low mileage. It is powered by a 5.6-litre V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. The odometer shows just 19,678 miles from new.

First registered in February 1988, and sold to its first owner in the US, this example is finished in the timeless colour combination of Arctic White over a Medium Red interior. It later made its way to the Netherlands, and now resides in Germany. It has been in the care of the vendor for the last nine years, and is currently unregistered. Currently, the vendor only has the paperwork and documents from the car’s time in the Netherlands, but states that German documents will be supplied with the vehicle.

The Arctic White paintwork has received a full professional repaint nine years ago, only due to some transport scratches when the car was shipped from the US to Europe, and as a result presents in wonderful condition throughout. In addition to this, the chrome bumpers and trims are in fantastic condition, along with the alloys wheels which are free from damage. Some of the black rubber trims show minor wear, but overall the SL is in great shape. An original US-market car, it has since been converted to the European exterior specification with the light lenses swapped among other things.

The interior of this SL is also in wonderful condition, with the red leather and trim presenting with no damage or heavy wear. Indeed, the vendor believes that the upholstery is original, which would certainly provide further evidence for the indicated low mileage. The carpets are free from the usual patches of wear-and-tear, while the seats show virtually no signs of bolster wear or sagging. The original leather-wrapped toolkit is present, along with the first aid kit in the boot and Mercedes-Benz floor mats.

The car retains the original stamped service book, as shown in the photo gallery. The last scheduled maintenance was in August 2012 in the Netherlands, when all fluids were renewed, and various bulbs were changed. Since then, the car has only been parked in a heated / dry garage, and has covered less than 100 miles.

The most recent TUV inspection took place in April 2021. All four tyres have good tread depth, but need replacing due to their age. Supplied with the vehicle are the original Mercedes-Benz handbooks and dealer literature.

Offering a rare chance to obtain a very low-mileage Mercedes-Benz 560 SL, this example presents in impressive condition throughout, and is believed to retain the original interior. Now converted to the European specification appearance, it would make an excellent addition to any car collection, and a fine weekend cruiser.
